Boebert Welcomes Last-Minute Bestie Donald Jr. To Pueblo

Donald Trump, Jr. with Rep. Lauren Boebert in Pueblo this weekend.

As the Pueblo Chieftain’s Anna Lynn Winfrey reports, Pueblo County Republicans were subjected treated to an appearance Saturday at a fundraising event by none other than Donald Trump, Jr. himself–who was kind enough at the request of Rep. Lauren Boebert to fill in at the last minute for another headliner who had to bail:

“At a moment’s notice, Donald Trump Jr. got the call that said Pueblo wants you,” Boebert said. “And without hesitation, he said, ‘I’ll be there.’”

Michelle Grey, chair of the Pueblo County Republican Party, confirmed that a keynote speaker canceled shortly before the event but declined to share any details…

In her speech Saturday to one of the most Democratic-leaning areas of sprawling CD-3, Boebert seemed to acknowledge her vulnerability, calling her race “the most contested race in America.” But then Boebert made some statements that left us much less certain she understands the nature of her plight:

She told reporters Saturday before her speech she thinks she spends more time in Pueblo than any other part of her district and said Pueblo’s values align with what’s important to her. [Pols emphasis]

“No matter if you’re Republican or Democrat, there is a pride for American values here in Pueblo County that no one can counter,” Boebert said during her speech.

We’d like to see the data supporting the idea that Boebert spends “more time in Pueblo” than anywhere else in her district, including her home hundreds of miles away on the Western Slope–though we suppose that would pump up Boebert’s exorbitant mileage reimbursements. As for Pueblo’s “values” aligning with Boebert’s, the recent failure of a controversial attempt at an abortion ban by the City Council is the latest proof that’s just not true. In 2022, Pueblo rendered their judgment on Boebert’s “values” when she lost Pueblo County by over six points.

Finally, if there were any Republicans in the room hoping to “move on from Trump,” Don Jr. made sure in his keynote address that was not going to happen:

“My father — they’re trying to throw him away for 450 years,” Trump Jr. told the crowd in Pueblo. “That’s long. Although, they did want to try me for treason, which is a crime punishable by death.” [Pols emphasis]

“Guys, that’s what’s going on in our country. The things that they’re trying to do to my father and trying to do to our family, that’s the stuff that if it happened in third-world banana republics, we’d be calling for regime change,” he added.

Did you know that Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump has been indicted on dozens of felony counts with more on the way? Because Don Jr. is here to remind you! A majority of Puebloans would probably say that January 6th was the stuff of “third-world banana republics,” not accountability for January 6th–and some of them might even think it was treasonable. Here is Don Jr. using all of those words and expecting sympathy.

In Grand Junction, Don Jr. might have been a good fit. In Pueblo, he left a smell more like Greeley.
