Hillary Clinton Destroys Boebert After Absurd "Pizzagate" Questioning

  •
  • by: Colorado Pols

As readers know, Colorado’s cacophonic cornucopia of crazy Rep. Lauren Boebert nearly derailed the deposition last Thursday of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by the House Oversight Committee regarding deceased billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, after Boebert leaked a photo of Clinton to a right-wing social media celeb against the rules governing the closed-door hearing.

But as the Daily Beast reports, Boebert’s exchange with Secretary Clinton during Thursday’s deposition was its own very special and familiar kind of farce:

[Boebert] had a question about “Pizzagate,” a conspiracy theory from the 2016 presidential campaign that falsely alleged a child sex ring had been uncovered tied to top Democrats.

Boebert cited the most bizarre claim from “Pizzagate,” namely that Clinton and others ran a child sex trafficking ring from the basement of a Washington, D.C.-based pizzeria. She wanted to know if Clinton thought the Epstein files made any reference to this.

Clinton, shaking her head in disbelief, responded, “Pizzagate was totally made up. It was an outrageous allegation that ended up hurting a number of people that caused a deranged young man to show up with his assault rifle and shoot up a local pizzeria. I can’t believe you’re even referencing it.”

When Boebert pressed, Clinton dismissed her questioning, “I don’t follow the crazy conspiracy stories that are online.”

“I really, I mean, I expected a lot of interesting questions today, but Pizzagate was not on my list,” an exasperated Clinton concluded.

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R).

Here’s the transcript of Boebert’s Pizzagate questions for Secretary Clinton as you can watch above. The timestamped quotes are from what we believe are Clinton’s attorneys, responding with similar shock that these “wacky” questions are even being leveled:

BOEBERT: Have you reviewed any 2025, 2026 Epstein files that were released that you believe reference or relate to those specific 2016 claims regarding the Podesta emails, Comet Ping Pong pizza used as code possibly?

0:17: I’m sorry, you’re asking her about whether she’s reviewed emails in the Epstein files which relate to the wacky Pizzagate, scam…

BOEBERT: You can characterize it however you want. I just would like to know if she’s familiar with any of them.

0:29: So excuse me. Your question is about whether or not she has reviewed any emails in the Epstein release files about Pizzagate…

BOEBERT: Correct?

CLINTON: Pizza Gate was totally made up. It was an outrageous allegation that ended up hurting a number of people that caused a deranged young man to show up with his assault rifle and shoot up a local pizzeria. I can’t believe you’re even referencing it. You should be…

BOEBERT: There are connections to the language…

1:06: Well, the QAnon people believe there are, so I don’t know what people have at it…

BOEBERT: But you’ve accused certain parties and I think even right now today of promoting slow walking information in ways that fuels conspiracies. In your view, did any Epstein Maxwell related investigations or file handling pre or post 2019 contribute to or intersect with the spread of Pizzagate style theories about Democrat figures.

1:40: Objection.

CLINTON: I have no way of answering. That is the most speculation, ridiculously…

BOEBERT: Have you or your representatives identified any Epstein file content that has been misinterpreted online to revive those claims, and what steps, if any, have you taken to clarify?

2:00: Again, object on the ground of…

BOEBERT: I think that this is all very reasonable.

CLINTON: Well, first of all, I don’t follow the crazy conspiracy stories that are online, I regret that anybody does. I find it quite sad but also disturbing that people would believe some of what is put forth like Pizzagate. So I have taken no steps to review anything that might have any connection to something which I think is totally bogus. [Pols emphasis]

Unlike a number of other clips of the Clintons from these depositions that Republicans on the committee have promoted, Republicans are not headlining this exchange between Boebert and Secretary Clinton. The reason is simple: after making a joke of the rules Republicans demanded for the deposition by leaking her photo, Boebert made a joke of the entire deposition by directing the questioning to one of the most thoroughly discredited conspiracy theories of our generation. Boebert’s longstanding flirtatious relationship with the QAnon conspiracy canon has been a subject of derision for years after she admitted being “very familiar” with the narrative on account of her conspiracy-minded mother, even asserting back in 2020 she “hopes” that QAnon “is real.” Since winning office, Boebert has taken the conspiracy theorizing down a few notches, while earning bipartisan praise for sticking to her proverbial guns on releasing the Epstein files.

Bringing “Pizzagate” back to life in the congressional record forever beclowns any goodwill Boebert earned over the Epstein files. It was fun while it lasted.

So be it, Q*Bert.
