DO NOT Ask Lauren Boebert...Questions

  •
  • by: Colorado Pols

Argle bargle blargh!

Colorado’s camera-hogging purveyor of political spectacle Rep. Lauren Boebert is once again the center of viral attention this morning, but not for a stunt that will make her or her supporters giggle with mirth. Speaking last night with British Larry King wannabe Piers Morgan, Boebert was confronted with what most minimally educated Americans would not consider to be a particularly trying question. But when asked the simple words “what is inflation,” Boebert responded with talk radio babble-soup for the ages:

PIERS MORGAN: What is inflation?

LAUREN BOEBERT: Well, inflation is when, when the, the price of things, is, is over, is, is too expensive because of, of, the federal government of really squandering the tax dollars. So you have the green. new scam hundreds of billions of dollars spent there to provide affordable energy and it was not affordable. It was never free. It was never discounted. That money was taken from the American people and forced into the system. It wasn’t a free market.

MORGAN: Hang on…

Watching this clip of Rep. Boebert struggle through an incoherent mass of right-wing slogans instead of providing an academically correct answer to a question that most certainly has a simple and correct answer reminded us of several other on-camera train wrecks: in 2008, when Sarah Palin couldn’t name a single newspaper she reads, or more recently Kristi Noem explaining how habeas corpus was about deporting people and not protecting their constitutional rights. Sometimes it’s better in this awkward position to just make like Rick Perry when he infamously forgot the third department of government he wanted to eliminate: “oops.”

Lauren Boebert wasn’t elected to answer hard questions, and she didn’t flee to the state’s reddest congressional district as a reward for being skilled at answering hard questions.

If you know that, and it’s your job to make Lauren Boebert look good, the best advice may be to not have her answer any questions.
