The Revolution Is Now Tentatively Scheduled For July 10

  • by: Colorado Pols

Last Friday, as readers know, there was a plot afoot for an illegal armed protest at the Colorado state capitol that failed to materialize under heavy police presence. Detailed “rules of engagement” instructions were given for participants to arrive with their weapons “hot, locked, and ready to rock,” and criteria outlined for when to open fire on police officer. Over the weekend, Brad Bunn, a far-right activist from Loveland, was arrested for possession of pipe bombs after boasting of his intention to show up at the state capitol weapons at the ready.

Although Brad Bunn is probably not himself going to make it, the event you can see above was posted to Facebook advertising a July 10 “Open Carry Rally” at the state capitol. To be clear, open carrying of firearms is expected to be just as illegal on July 10 as it is today–the apparent thinking on the part of our COVID-energized “freedom fighter” set is that by July 10, they’ll be able to assemble an armed posse so large the police won’t dare challenge their mail-order body-armored badassery.

We’d say our local “freedom fighters” will look good in those plastic zip-tie handcuffs the cops use on liberals.

  1. I’m not exactly clear, a little help here please, Jacob,  . . .

. . . should we, or should we not, be openly carrying pipe bombs there?!?  How many?!?

    (PS – the flag is a little over-represented with Lugers, no? . . . Also, what’s the Neville family’s’ cut gonna’ be? . . . And, the Chik-Fil-As never arrived last week? . . .)

  2. Has such an egregious act of lawlessness ever been announced so far in advance? The planner(s) didn't do his/her/their cause any good at all in giving a 2-month warning to law enforcement. With the events in Loveland this past Sunday and the flurry of threats that followed, sensitivity to and surveillance of communications among this group must be high. It might be time to tap into those channels and see if some amount of reason and sanity might be injected to give these yahoos some sort of off ramp.

  3. I looked up and found that open carry is illegal in Denver and on the Capitol grounds and in the building.  As best I can tell, violation is a misdemeanor.

Anyone know if multiple misdemeanors for violations would have an impact on federal gun checks or CCW licenses?

  4. Watch this from RMGO. It explains the charges that can be made for trespass and are probably similar to what might be charged for open carry on Capitol grounds. If posting private property against hunting/guns is similar to what City/County of Denver and the state have done, this should apply:

Generally a municipality (counties too?) can declare that open carry is not allowed within their jurisdiction. With the exception of Denver, front range cities whose municipal codes I have had a chance to look at only declare that for city-owned facilities and do not extend the prohibition to their full jurisdiction.
