Helping Las Vegas and other ways you can fight back this week (October 2)

The coming week is full of opportunities to take action in support of our shared progressive values. Now that, with your help, the far-right’s campaign to repeal health reform has been defeated, Republicans in Washington are turning to massive tax cuts for the wealthy and other parts of their agenda that would hurt the middle class and the institutions we all depend on.

But today, we are once again overwhelmed with sympathy for the victims of yet another mass shooting—the worst among so many horrific shootings in our nation’s recent history. The senseless killing of more than 50 people and the wounding of hundreds more in Las Vegas last night has shocked the conscience of every American. The grief being experienced by the families of victims and the many injured in last night’s violence is incomprehensible.

Just as Americans came together to help any way they could after the Newtown and Aurora shootings a few years ago, the first thing to do today is to take action in support of the victims in Las Vegas. If you are medically able to donate blood, there is a critical need: contact Bonfils Blood Center in Denver or your local blood donation center to give today.

Clark County Commission Chair Steve Sisolak has set up a rapid-response fund to assist victims of the Las Vegas shootings. This is an excellent way to direct your financial support to the people most in need right now.

Thanks for doing your part once again under terrible circumstances. It is critical that in times of tragedy, we grieve but do not let the tragedy define who we are. Let our humanity in response to this terrible event be the story that everyone remembers, and then let’s work together to end the scourge of gun violence that is tearing our nation apart.

C2A2 – United Against White Supremacy Hate!

The event will start at the Denver Civic Center and a march. We are calling on Congress “for the removal of President Trump whether it is by Impeachment or by the 25th Amendment and all other elected officials who embolden and support white supremacists and neo-Nazi groups in this country who feel emboldened by a US President who refuses to call these groups by what they really are, DOMESTIC TERRORISTS, and who insists that Black Lives Matter are the Terrorists. and the end of white supremacist public policies. We are also asking that he be removed or Impeached for rescinding DACA, Obstruction of Justice, and other offenses. President Trump has a problem with Immigrants in this country, especially those who are from Mexico. With his revenge tactics, it is making it hard for those who are from other countries living and contributing to this country while going to school here to have a better life.
