After the Colorado Times Recorder reported yesterday that he did not believe the 2020 election was stolen, a Trump official quickly announced that he had changed his opinion.

“I now believe there was massive fraud in 2020, especially concerning Russia Gate and ballot harvesting,” tweeted John Fabbricatore, a newly appointed senior advisor to the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), after he was quoted as saying in 2024 that he hadn’t seen “enough evidence” to prove that Trump should have won in 2020.
Asked on X to clarify whether “massive fraud” meant that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump, Fabbricatore replied that “recent findings” had convinced him that Trump won.
“Let’s break that down: ev·i·dence /ˈevəd(ə)ns/ noun: evidence 1 the available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief or proposition is true or valid,” tweeted Fabbricatore, a former Aurora ICE field officer who ran for Congress in Colorado last year. “Recent findings in the Russian Collusion debacle as well as the numbers in this last election, in which there was a 6.8 million vote difference between Biden and Kamala and the difference between Obama and Biden was 10 million. I can’t believe that Biden received 81. 2 million votes which was a total more than anyone EVER. Coupled with various stories that have broken about vote harvesting, I changed my opinion.
“These findings have changed my feelings about the election. While no concrete evidence, they are enough to heavily influence me to believe that 2020 was not an anomaly but potentially the biggest vote scam in my lifetime.”
Evidence does not support the conclusion that Trump lost the 2020 presidential election due to fraud.
That’s what Fabbricatore said last year. “You know, as a former law enforcement officer investigator, you know, I believe in evidence, and I don’t believe that there’s been enough evidence to show that,” Fabbricatore said on April 5, 2024, as he geared up to run in a Democrat-leaning congressional race in Colorado.
Another Colorado Republican withdrew her nomination for a Trump administration position after her past criticism of Trump emerged.
Kathleen Sgamma, former president of the Western Energy Alliance, a member group advocating for policies benefiting the oil and gas industry, was nominated to be director of the Bureau of Land Management.
She withdrew her nomination after the release of a memo in which she blasted Trump over the Jan. 6 riot.
Sgamma wrote that she was “disgusted by the violence witnessed yesterday and President Trump’s role in spreading misinformation that incited it.”
Below is a transcript of Fabbricatore’s comments on KNUS’ Jeff and Bill Show on April 5, 2024, about the 2020 election.
Caller: Do you think that the 2020 presidential elections, there was so much fraud that it swayed the election to Biden.
Fabbricatore: You know, as as a former law enforcement officer investigator, you know, I believe in evidence, and I don’t believe that there’s been enough evidence to show that. Was there fraud? I’m seeing it. There’s definitely been some stuff that had happened. But to really show that it swung all the way in one direction, it’s very hard for me to say definitely, because I have not seen that amount of evidence to show me that it has. Now, with that being said, I totally believe we need to secure our elections better and do a better job at making everyone feel comfortable that our elections are being held fairly. And I think we’ve had problems with elections as far back as I can remember since I’ve been voting, hanging chads and everything else, that we can look at that we really need to start looking at our election process and making sure that we have fair and free elections and that people are comfortable with what happens at the end of that election cycle. You know, you know, having IDs, I believe people should show an ID when they go and vote. I don’t know why we don’t do that. And, you know, it’s something that I’m very much in favor of. But, you know, I can’t say that the election was stolen because I haven’t seen that amount of evidence to show that.
