Colorado's "MAGA King" Creepily Commemorates OKC Bombing

Former CD-4 GOP candidate Trent Leisy (left).

Former CO-04 Republican candidate Trent Leisy, who bills himself as the “MAGA King” on the strength of a photo he once managed to snap with the real MAGA King, is back after pulling out of the race to replace former Rep. Ken Buck later won by carpetbagging sensation Rep. Lauren Boebert, and throwing in his rhetorically unfettered opinion about the future of the Colorado Republican Party following last month’s momentous leadership change.

Leisy, who trolled for headlines in the CO-04 race by calling for Colorado Supreme Court justices to be arrested and tried for treason over the Trump v. Anderson case, has a reputation for riding the edge of decency in his quest for name recognition. But this time, commemorating for “RiNO Watch” the 30th anniversary of the deadly bombing of a federal office building in Oklahoma City, Leisy managed to out-outrage himself:

For months, the establishment wing of the Colorado GOP didn’t just challenge Dave Williams, they smeared him. They didn’t just disagree with his supporters, they demonized them. The message was clear: Williams was David Koresh, and anyone who backed him was part of a modern-day Branch Davidian cult.

They didn’t run a political argument. They ran a fear campaign. The goal wasn’t to win hearts, it was to break kneecaps. The RINOs cast themselves as the FBI, here to save the party from “extremists,” and anyone who didn’t kneel got labeled a threat.

Now, after months of this? They want to talk about unity.

Let’s cut the nonsense: you don’t burn bridges and expect a handshake at the ashes. You don’t call half your party a cult and then wonder why they don’t fall in line. You don’t use Waco as a scare tactic and then pretend it’s all water under the bridge.

What’s coming isn’t unity, it’s detonation. The Colorado GOP isn’t healing. It’s ticking…

Creeped out yet? Keep reading:

The real story isn’t about fixing divisions. It’s about ignoring them while the clock runs out. The party is setting itself up for its own Oklahoma City moment, only this time the blast radius will stretch across the ballot. The faces are different, but the script is the same. Brita Horn as McVeigh. Darrel Lee Phelan as Nichols. The building is the Colorado GOP. The date: November 3rd, 2026.

The casualties? Republicans, up and down the ticket.

That’s what happens when your strategy is political arson and your idea of leadership is defamation. You can’t smear your base, frame them as terrorists, and then slap “unity” on a bumper sticker.

The establishment lit the fuse. Now they want the rest of us to pretend it isn’t burning…

Leisy will argue that his comparisons of the newly elected leaders of the Colorado Republican Party to the domestic terrorists responsible for the Oklahoma City bombing are not meant to be threatening, but rather a warning of what the new leaders of the party are set to do: metaphorically blow the party up. At least we hope it’s metaphorical? The new leaders would naturally retort that it’s Leisy’s friend Dave “Let’s Go Brandon” Williams who “blew up” the party, and either way this rhetoric is in extremely poor taste–even when it’s not the anniversary of the death of 168 innocent people.

We realize that calling out a deficiency of tastefulness at a time when the bounds of decency are being continuously pushed does not stop any presses.

But when the rest of us give up on calling this madness out, it becomes the new normal.

  1. As someone who worked in downtown OKC and was there on April 19, 1995, I feel I've earned the right to tell Leisy to fuck right off, and take his christofascist buddies with him.

    1. He's a sick MFer but this is also really confused. If Dave Williams is David Koresh, why would Brita Horn blow up the building? Leisy is just using the OKC bombing to shock people without knowing anything about it. It's so loony.

  2. Amazing, the people who destroyed the Colorado Republican Party now consider themselves the victims of their own inept actions. They need to reflect on their actions over the past decade and take responsibility for the results.
