It’s a busy week from Denver to D.C. fighting for our shared progressive values, so let’s get right to it:

Action item #1 this week: tell Senate Democrats you’ve got their back as they fight for the speedy confirmation of D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court. Despite Judge Jackson’s impeccable legal credentials and distinguished career stretching back to her days as a public defender, Republicans are already plotting to stall her nomination any way they can.

America can’t be held hostage by the far right any longer on Supreme Court picks. Our friends at UltraViolet are mobilizing voters across the nation to urge the Senate to confirm Judge Jackson without delay. Click here to stand with them.

Looking to help with humanitarian relief efforts in Eastern Europe? United Help Ukraine is a 501(c)(3) registered charity dedicated to providing support to the families of killed and wounded in the Russian invasion of Ukraine as well as housing assistance for refugees fleeing the violence. Click here to learn more about their work.

Thanks to everyone who signed up last week to help pass the Reproductive Health Equity Act (RHEA)! Last week, legislation to criminalize abortion in Colorado was killed in a legislative committee, a reminder of the threat rights we once took for granted are under today. The next steps in this important fight are coming up, so watch this space for updates.

Here are a few more ways to make a difference for the week of February 28, 2022:

Colorado Sierra Club: Monument Community Meeting

Calling all Sierra Club members and environmentally-concerned folks who live in Monument, CO and surrounding areas! Are you concerned about how drought and wildfires are impacting your community? Want to learn more about how you can take action on important issues like cleaning up Colorado’s air and lowering your electric bills? We are getting together at Pikes Peak Brewing Company (Monument) on Thursday, March 3rd at 5:30pm to discuss and get organized around some of the upcoming opportunities at the state & local level to advocate for clean air and a livable future.

When: Thursday, March 2 at 5:30pm
Where: Pikes Peak Brewing, 1756 Lake Woodmoor Dr., Monument

History Colorado: Displaced Aurarians Memory Project

Your memories of living in and being displaced from Auraria are important to the history of Denver and the history of Colorado. Please help us to preserve the stories of your community and your family by joining us on Saturday, March 5 at 10 am at St. Cajetan’s, Auraria Campus. Bring your memories, and we will give you the tools to record your stories!

Conservation Colorado: 2022 State Legislation: Commerce City Climate Conversation

Save the date: Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights: Latino/a Advocacy Day 2022

Join us on March 13th and 14th for our 16th Annual Latino/a Advocacy Day! We will be inviting legislators to sit with us and discuss our policy priorities as a community, learn from community organizations, and talk through how to lobby for positive change.

Where: McNichols Building, 144 W Colfax, Denver

Save the date: LGBTQ Lobby Day

Join One Colorado for our 2022 LGBTQ Lobby Day! The only way we can shape the future of equality in Colorado is by making sure our elected representatives hear from us, so mark your calendar and sign up to join us! Don’t worry if it’s your first time at Lobby Day, we’ll train you, feed you, and provide you with all the information you’ll need to feel comfortable.

When: Monday, March 14th at 8:00am
Where: First Baptist Church, 1373 Grant St, Denver

We’ll see you next week with more ways to take action.

Sincerely,

Sara Loflin, Executive Director
