Dave Balmer and Rep. Jesus Christ (R-Nazareth)

(A tad presumptuous. – promoted by Colorado Pols)

“It is not a district that any Republican could win,” said Balmer. “Ronald Reagan could not win the 6th CD under this Democrat map. Jesus Christ could not win the 6th CD under this Democrat map.” (JCB emphasis)

Makin’ a few assumptions about the political leanings of our Lord and Savior, aren’t you Davey? After all, didn’t Jesus heal the sick and feed the poor?

If there’s anything Republicans have taught me over the years, it’s that there’s more than one Jesus. There’s the Jesus I learned about in Sunday School who fed the poor, and today’s GOP Jesus who wants the poor to learn “personal responsibility.”

Also, I’m pretty sure my Jesus wouldn’t want to be elected to Tom Tancredo’s seat.

    1. it’s hard to imagine voters would go for a Jewish carpenter who spent most of his professional life as a community organizer. I just don’t see it happening.

  1. I’ve been voting D pretty consistently the past several cycles- and I’d vote for JC.

And Reagan? That RINO raised taxes 11 times.

No, Mr Blamer’s problem is he’s not in the same league.

  2. .

without personal culpability, what need is there for salvation ?

That’s where Jesus gets his real power: He can forgive ANYTHING.

    .

      1. Back in the day we used to get all those teachings for free — in Sunday school . . . on second thought, I guess it did cost me a dime of my allowance each week.

    1. for taking the opportunity of this tragedy to compare the victims to Hitler Youth:

“As the thing started to unfold and there was a shooting at a political camp, which sounds a little like the Hitler Youth. Who does a camp for kids that’s all about politics? Disturbing,” Beck said on his program this morning.

And all those talking heads who immediately jumped to the conclusion that Muslims were involved on the basis a of absolutely nothing. Nada. Zilch.

Stephen Colbert featured an all purpose headline for future use on his show.  if I remember correctly it went like this:

      Something Bad Happened: Muslims involved.

        1. Now Billo is whining about the Norwegian shooter being called Christian.  Objects to this maniac being identifed with what Christianity stands for.  Kind of ironic, huh?

  3. Im no religious scholar but I remember reading once that he could perform miracles. Someone who has the ability to turn water into wine can probably persuade a couple independents to vote for him.

        1. You need a first and last name for the parents’ names on a birth certificate, right? What would Jesus’ birth certificate say? Just “God”? Is that a first or last name?

  4. 2000 years ago that Jesus Christ didn’t seek public office.  That still applies today.

Even if He did, I seriously doubt He could win anywhere.  Sooner or later, during the course of the campaign, some significant segment of the electorate would find the Lord to be too rigid in His stands.  Very few people really want to be held accountable for their own actions.

    1. Was the reason that still applies today the fact that Jews weren’t part of the Roman ruling class, or that there wasn’t a democracy in place to elect public officials?

Unwavering, rigid positions seem to be the requirement for Republican candidates these days. But you are right, they like having the perception of uncompromising ideals yet don’t want to be held accountable for their own actions.
