Denver guitarist Ricky Kulwicki passed away earlier this week. He was a member of The Fluid, far and away the greatest band ever to call this burg home. Here they are in their prime (Ricky’s the guy at far right).
Great memories associated with that band.
Sorry I never got to see his latest project the Buckingham Squares.
Good obit:

I guess I’m going to have to make a point of seeing these bands now – you never know how long someone has left, now that we’re firmly in the throes of middle age…
….mother is not in the picture, and not a real option for his kids. I hope that Grandparents or someone else can pick up the slack.
I saw word that they’re setting up some benefit concerts in late March for them.
Every time I tell an OB/Gyn story on Pols, I have to post a Dr. video. I’ll stop telling them when idiots stop trying to take women’s rights to make their own decisions away. (I’ll invite my friends to tell theirs if I need to, as well.) For Doctor Dianne, who wiped my tears after I lost my baby many years ago, this one’s for you:
Good time of year for all those annual check-ups.
(PLEASE NOTE: This clever song is by the group LITTLE CHARLIE AND THE NIGHTCATS.
They should not be confused with the NIGHTHAWKS, which the youtube poster apparently did because he’s got that group’s picture on LITTLE CHARLIE’S song.)
I’m sure all my fellow aging Pols will appreciate this song.

I ain’t proud. I ain’t tired either.
For those who haven’t clicked, it’s the “Repo Man” video.
This Devo song always reminded me of Doug Bruce:
Gosh, I hope people don’t really think that that’s what Billie Joe believes himself…
“Artifice” doesn’t have “art” in it, fer nothin’!
(Not that I’m saying Green Day is high art, mind (any of) you.)
Q. Tarantino got it right at the MTV awards show when he presented to GD- that was the best record to come out in a long time.
and I just discovered this guy. I’d never heard of him before–John Adams.
And this one I love. I can’t stop playing it–overtones of Copeland to it.
on last Saturday’s Met broadcast. I got to see it at Opera Colorado a few years ago. Very interesting work.
Rats. 🙁
… they did a live HD broadcast, so it’s real likely that PBS will show it in a few months. And if you ever go to the live HD broadcasts (don’t know if any Estes Park theaters carry it, or even if Estes Park has a theater these days – but it’s likely that one in Fort Collins, Greeley, and/or Boulder is), they’ll show it again the evening of Wednesday March 2.
We have two theaters but one closes for winter and the other never shows stuff like this. I’ll put that date on my calendar. Do you have a link so I can get more info about it?
Here’s the Met’s main page for HD broadcasts, and you’ll find a link under their “Nixon in China” heading for their big page on the opera; and this link will tell you which theaters are showing it by zip code.
I’m so excited to see this!
I’m hooked on this guy. I keep wondering who else I’m missing out there.
An old song for a new era in the Middle Rock – “Rock the Casbah!”
“Fundamentally he can’t take it – You know he really hates it!”
And Green Day, oddly enough.
These guys as well (not my favorite version of this song):
Oh, and I don’t want to, I have to:
I bet you think this song is about you.
And it is.
Makes me keep Waiting for the Man:
I mean, they also PROMISED us some kind of election today (Hint, Hint).
You suppose these folks are spending too much of their work time blogging? Or, checking how BJ’s doing over at C4P.com
And wasn’t I just told that clicking is advisable?
You and BlueCat suckdidlyuck. (Explains too much.)
when BJ was spouting off about how big his C4P site was going to be, I just assumed it was http://www.C4P.com (I don’t think I was the only one — cough, MADCO, cough — who thought this).
Although I’ve said I’m sorry, I think it’s really BJ who owes you the apology. (But then he owes everyone here and apology, doesn’t he?)
I do hope puppy held down her kibble when she saw that site
