We’re two weeks and a day from the most anticipated and most important election of our lifetimes. The polls say this election will not be close. Across the country and here in Colorado, voters are turning out in massive numbers to change the course of our nation for the better.
The time has come to discuss a deeply troubling possibility that we as Americans have never faced before. What happens if Donald Trump refuses to accept the results?
The best way to ensure the United States of America continues our unbroken tradition of peaceful transfers of power is to make sure this election is a landslide. The bigger the margin, the weaker any challenge to the legitimacy of the results becomes.
We’re hoping for the best. But if Trump refuses to accept the results of the elections, we’re part of a growing coalition working to mobilize on November 4th if necessary to Protect the Results.
Action item #1 this week: visit the Protect the Results campaign site and register to mobilize if Trump refuses to accept the results of the election. Here in Colorado, we know that Trump’s complaints about the mail ballot election system we’ve used for years are baseless. It’s up to us to ensure that in the likely event Trump loses the 2020 presidential election, he cannot throw our country into a constitutional crisis.
We’re on the cusp of ending one of the ugliest and most divisive periods in American history. We know that the future is far brighter than the division and ignorance we’re leaving behind, as long as we can make it through the next two weeks. Thank you very much for your help at this important moment. Here are a few more great ways to take action for the week of October 19:

Their Voice is Ours: Indigenous Perspectives on the Wolf Nation
Gray wolves (Canis lupus) have been largely absent from Colorado for nearly 80 years. With recent wolf sightings in Northern Colorado and an upcoming statewide vote on Proposition 114 that would reintroduce wolves to the state, Canis lupus appear to be on the verge of return. To inform the conversation about the potential restoration of wolves to Colorado, it is important to hear from indigenous peoples about their perspectives on wolves.

Wolves in Colorado: Science & Stories
After a nearly 80-year absence, grey wolves appear to be on the verge of returning to Colorado. In July 2019, a lone radio-collared wolf became the state’s first confirmed Canis lupus sighting in the wild in years. Then, in January, a separate pack appeared in Moffat County. This November, voters will go to the polls to determine the fate of Initiative 107 which, if passed, would charge the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission with formally reintroducing wolves no later than 2023.
