What you can do to fight back this week (August 24)

Last week and this week, Americans are seeing two opposite visions of the future of this country. And in November, we’ll have a choice: of another four years of incompetence, division, and chaos, or to come together in defense of our most essential shared values.

This is a conflict Sen. Cory Gardner wants to hide from. Gardner doesn’t have the guts to show up at the Republican National Convention this week. And it’s easy to understand why: ever since Gardner’s election in 2014, Colorado has steadily moved away from backward conservative politics. In 2016 Coloradans rejected Donald Trump, and in 2018 Colorado voters punished Trump’s allies on the ballot at every level in Colorado.

In October of 2016, Cory Gardner did one good deed–maybe his best moment in all his years in politics–when he called for Donald Trump to pull out of the race for president, saying “I cannot and will not support someone who brags about degrading and assaulting women.” Today, Gardner has abandoned whatever principles he once possessed. He’s one of Trump’s closest allies, and he says he wants the “American people to get to like the President” too. [1]

November can’t come quickly enough. Thank you for your work week after week to hold Cory Gardner and the far right in Washington and here in Colorado accountable. Here are a few more ways to make a difference for the week of August 24:

Denver Solidarity March (March On Washington)

We may not all be able to make it to the March on Washington, an event taking place on the 57th anniversary of the first historic March on Washington in 1963 led by Martin Luther King Jr. The purpose of the march was to advocate for the civil and economic rights of African Americans. It’s time we remind our leaders that the fight is not over! We will march here, in solidarity in our beautiful hometown! Share this event! Invite your friends and family! See you there!

One Colorado: What the LGBTQ Health?- Southeast Colorado

One Colorado will share our 2018 Closing the Gap report, important information on your health care rights and how to advocate for them, and host a panel of participants from the region to discuss how each region is uniquely impacted with regards to health and accessing care. We want to hear directly from you about what is both amazing and challenging in your regions, and how One Colorado can close the gap between legal and lived equality in every corner of Colorado.
