Ayn Rand's impact on Colorado politics.

  •
  • by: blythesspirit

A friend told me about a public meeting he attended a few days ago with both supporters and opponents of the evil three – Amendments 60, 61 and Initiative 101.

It was a civil discussion, where facts regarding the impact of these three measures were presented.  The supporters denied some of the facts, claiming there were extreme interpretations, but accepted other facts as presented. They had no facts or statistics, just beliefs, to defend their point of view.  In the end, most supporters acknowledged that these ballot measures would have a true negative impact on Colorado.

Here’s the SCARY PART – that was okay with the supporters!  Their reasoning was that Colorado is broken now.  The only way to fix it is to break it even more, and from the ashes we can rebuild a better Colorado.  Ignoring the pain, suffering, and insanity of this view; what gives me the creeps is that this group of supporters believe that destroying the government is a good thing.

I read Rand in college and found her compelling but cruel beyond belief.  Do the supporters think they will miraculously be the ones that prosper in this new age?  Are they truly comfortable ignoring the millions that will suffer and die in the dystopia proposed in Atlas Shrugged?

So we have an answer to the question of who wants to stop the engines – supporters of the evil three!
