Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot

But of course you knew that.

On today’s symposium, the blowhard-in-chief and Republican Party head took this shot at Mark Udall:

FATASS: There is no majority for the public option in an honest poll.  “I’m not going to let four senators dictate to the rest of us…” Well, it’s going to be a lot more than four because a lot more than four are going to hold out for something like what Landrieu got: $300 million. Here’s Mark Udall on the Senate floor. He’s a Democrat from Utah.  Here’s a portion of what he said.

UDALL:  My advice to women in listening to this debate is that they should be consulting their doctors when it comes to things like this. They should be listening to their doctors.  Their doctors are up on the best research; they’re up on the best science; they’re up on the best medicine and get on top of it.  And so I would just say to the women of America, “Listen to your doctors, not to Rush Limbaugh.”

FATASS:  He’s on the floor of the US Senate and I do not know what he was talking about.  Maybe it was the mammogram thing.  I have no clue what he was talking about.  All I know is that I could probably put my finger on a number of women’s lives who have been saved as a result of listening to this show. [emphasis mine]

Oh where to start.

First, Mark Udall is from Colorado. And second, that’s not Mark Udall, the Senior Senator from Colorado. It’s Tom Udall. And Tom Udall’s not from Utah either, he’s the Junior Senator from New Mexico.

But neither facts nor credibility have ever gotten in the way of a good rant before.

    1. Franken’s crew just absolutely had the RL “Fact” checkers in a knot.  I don’t recall the specifics, but the latter were snookered hook, line, and sinker by Franken’s rather young and unsophisticated workers.

Because they have no idea what a fact is….

  1. All I know is that I could probably put my finger on a number of women’s lives who have been saved as a result of listening to this show.

Because their husbands will beat them to death if they try to change the station?

  2. I even gave you the HHS PR office number last week.

Maybe I should have used safe words …. something like hit the abortion button on these breast cancer advisories…stop it now before it develops into a cancer on your Administration.

Now we have Udall going to the Senate floor to spin shit.  What a freaking waste of taxpayers money.

      1. it seems like the Democrats have a 24×7 watch on Rush.  I don’t even know what time or station he’s on … I’m thinking around noon-3p on KHOW or KOA.

Thanks for keeping me up to date on Rush.

  3. From your link.

    BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: A couple of health care audio sound bites.  Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown was on State of the Union on CNN Sunday. John King says, “If in the end you can’t get Lieberman, Lincoln, Landrieu, and you can’t pass a bill without at least going to a trigger, would you make that compromise?”

BROWN:  In the end, I don’t want four Democratic Senators dictating to the other 56 of us and to the country — when the public option has this much support — that it’s not going to be in it.  People want every option.  If we’re telling people you have to buy insurance, we shouldn’t tell them they’ve gotta buy insurance from a private insurance company.  But in the end I think that all four of our colleagues survey the — this — look at this bill in the end and say… I don’t think they want to be on the wrong side of history.

RUSH:  Oh, “the wrong side of history” is where you’re going to be, Senator Brown.  There is no majority for the public option in an honest poll.  “I’m not going to let four senators dictate to the rest of us…” Well, it’s going to be a lot more than four because a lot more than four are going to hold out for something like what Landrieu got: $300 million. Here’s Mark Udall [D-Colo.] on the Senate floor… Here’s a portion of what he said.

    1. No wait, what’s the additional context we’re supposed to get from this?

The only difference is this additional lie.

There is no majority for the public option in an honest poll.

I guess you’d know whether a poll were honest based on whether it found the “correct” conclusion.

    2. It looks like they edited the transcript so he looks like he didn’t make a mistake. Unless you’re charging Thilly with making his own edits (outside of the obvious satirical edit, that is).

      1. Not implying Thilly edited, and I’m sure Rush did make the mistake about which Udall he was referring to.

I just often see Limbaugh taken out of context here, and wanted to post his whole passage.

Other than insults, there wasn’t really any policy talked about on the thread (other than by…*GASP*…Libby), so I don’t have much to say.
