Showdown at CT Corral

  • by: JO

I won’t get started in the subject of Joseph L. of CT (I can’t even bring myself to type his name!) lest I be sent to the corner for bad, bad language.

BUT. Perhaps the Congressional medical insurance program is not so hot after all if it turns out that the mostly-male Democratic members of the Senate are lacking in the basic prerequisites to reproduce and aren’t getting effective treatment. Doesn’t their plan cover Viagara?

I refer to accepting Joseph L’s decision to caucus with the Democrats, and therefore entitle himself to committee chairmanships. ENOUGH. His announcement today that he’ll campaign for Republican Senate candidates next year, as he did last, requires IMMEDIATE ACTION on the part of Mr. (?) Reid and his fellow Democrats. Send this slimy bastard into never-never land, to the other side of the aisle, or anywhere besides in the majority.

He is no more a Democrat than Mitch Mc, another name I refuse to type.

I could get started on the whole issue of Senate rules versus democratic (d) government, indeed the issue of whether it is past time that the American version of the House of Lords follow its UK model into political irrelevance by being limited to the power to delay–not veto, but to delay–legislation passed in the House. I could rant on about how half a million Cowboys to our north have two votes in the Senate, just like the 30-odd million Californians, a ratio of something like 60:1. Ah, democracy. Ah, one woman one vote.

For as long as my 1/2GB of memory can hold, Dems have focused on achieving a supermajority without regard to the species of creatures crawling into their caucus. The Legion of Dishonor has many members: Thurmond, Russell, Long, and Lieberman come to mind. I’m proud to be a Democrat, but I wouldn’t want anyone to imagine, wonder, or doubt my feelings towards that list.

To quote the late Senator Juan Cojones: “If they ain’t Democrats, kick ’em outta here. Pronto!”
