( – promoted by Colorado Pols)
Everyone here has talked a lot about the upcoming Bennet-Romanoff primary, specifically about the motivations of the latter and the differences between the two. Here’s your chance to ask the former Speaker what he’s thinking. He’ll be live in our studio on Sunday morning. Feel free to post questions here with your name and I’ll be glad to cite ColoradoPols as where the questions came from. If you don’t want to post them for everyone to see, feel free to email them to me at work: adam.schrager@9News.com. Cheers, ajs

how about asking him what his motivations are and what he sees the major differences– policy differences are?
Thanks.
and was there a more prestigious country whose ambassadorship he would have accepted?
Did he know how good the music is there?
your Saturday videos? 🙂
…against Democratic incumbents, over the years? F/U: if any, any in CO?
XXOO
I don’t think Schrager can say that on the air, Jambalaya.
I’m curious, though. In his announcement speech, Romanoff made it sound like being appointed to public office delegitimizes the office-holder. Was this his feeling when he applied for appointment to the vacant secretary of state position, or when he tried to be appointed senator, or when he considered stepping in as lieutenant governor? Follow up: Many of the legislators backing Romanoff’s bid were appointed to their seats. Does he value their support less than those who won election without the advantage of incumbency?
I read it as “Followup”
Further, does he think the state legislators who have endorsed him should be primaried on principle? For the good of the party and all that, you know.
He has a right to run against Bennet. I’m happy we have primaries in the Democratic Party and I’m happy Michael Bennet has a challenger.
We need more Democratic primaries and more Republican primaries.
Your talking points are getting stale. No one’s saying Andrew doesn’t have a right to run in the primary. No one has ever said that. Jambalaya is merely teasing the knee-jerk bromides and straw man arguments that have served to fill the void of a compelling reason for this primary. Bromides and straw men such as yours.
…in addition to everything TB said, which I imperiously adopt as my own statement, I will note that you have articulated AR’s primary (only?) reason for running: he has a right to, dammit! This country was built on rights! And rights should always be exercised regardless of the wisdom of doing so!
Apparently, you also think AR has a right not to be asked inconvenient questions.
Why do you hate America?
who first said, with rights come responsibilities.
Sorry about that.
Aside from David, I don’t know anyone else on the blog and I need at least a first name from folks in order to ask their questions. Sorry, it’s station policy. If you don’t want to post it, that’s fine, can you email it to me?
How do you know Jambalaya isn’t my first name? What if I made up a name more palatable to you….call me Pat! Would that satisfy station policy?
If you’re worried about attibution to the question’s source, don’t. Those who decline to post under their Christian name can hardly claim ownership of their posts! You have my permission to use all of my fabulous questions and insights, without giving me credit.
I thought you just had a single name, like Madonna, Cher or Betsymarkey.
…I see stars!
I don’t have a ‘Christian’ name, as you refer to it.
I came back here to follow the 2010 races, hoping it was better than some other sites. This place is also full of knuckleheads–like you.
Adam Schrager needs no defense. I’ll just point out he was merely stating policy in a factual way. Meanwhile, people have to wade through comments like PeePants here.
but anyone who calls Jambalaya a knucklehead, is probably a knucklehead. Knucklehead.
Since we’ll probably still be doing the healthcare dance in a couple of years.
If so, did he just start supporting it when Bennet filed his campaign papers?
And Ralph is my real name.
I’d be curious to know what made Romanoff’s view of party loyalty change. Once he was not selected, why did he not start mobilizing in support of Sen. Bennet?
Put another way, how are people supposed to view his run as anything but a political temper tantrum?
Tom
Speaker Romanoff,
Sen. Bennet has cosponsored the DREAM Act, while in the state legislature you joined John Andrews in blocking access to education for undocumented minors. If elected to the United States Senate, would you vote against the DREAM Act?
Billy
Three possible questions:
1) Would Sen. Romanoff support a troop increase in Afghanistan?
2) Has he discussed Obama’s endorsement of Bennet with Obama or one of his aides?
3) Why does he think that Obama felt the need to endorse one (D) candidate over another (D) candidate?
Todd
Dear Andrew (Mike, John…..)
Do you support Rep. Diana DeGette’s bill that would put fracking fluid under the Clean Water Act? Or do you share the governor’s view that more study is needed?
What is your stance on oil shale development on the Western Slope? Yea or nay, what kind of “oil shale” legislation would you consider today that would reflect your and/or voters’ wishes or opinion?
As the drought continues in the West, especially California, potable water from the Colorado River Basin could be more valuable than the energy resources below. As Senator, how will you mitigate this potential new Range War between energy development and the use of fracking fluid versus enviromental concerns over water quality?
Should the feds raise taxes and/or cut some of the oil and gas industry tax discounts? (Oh, by the way, the Candandian Province of Alberta supplements public health care costs through oil and gas taxes.)
How can citizens who live on split-estate property be more fairly compensated for impacts on their homes and health from nearby energy development?
…Bennett could answer those questions?
Water is a vital issue to Colorado, and one that city-slicker Andrew has learned a lot about.
Do you think Bennett has been such a quick study on this issue? Is there any evidence that he knows anything about it at all?
The request was questions for Romanoff.
You don’t get to change the rules.
One good thing Bennet and Udall have done in the Senate, in coordination with Secretary Salazar at Interior, is to direct $10-$25 million in stimulus funding to speed up the hazardous clean-up at the Summitville super fund site near Alamosa. This was Secretary Salazar’s plan, but the support was garnered by Senators Udall and Bennet.
I know this was asked of Bennet at an event shortly after his appointment; he admitted he needs to learn more about water, but he knows that it’s an important issue to his constituents. I personally don’t know how far along he’s come in the time he’s been in Washington, but I think it would be a great question to ask him the next time he’s on Your Show.
Do you support the Baucus health insurance reform plan with it’s mandates and penalties for individuals on the one hand and no guarantee of affordable option availability on the other, especially for the self-employed?
Which committees does Andrew want to be on and why?
What bills would he propose?
The Senate is literally an “old boys club”. As someone with no seniority, how would he work to fit in?
…seniority is so irrelevant, so “insider baseball”!
… as are committees and bills. Ask him about his sense of humor and how many times he’s spoken at Jefferson-Jackson dinners in the hinterlands.
1. What is the biggest difference we as a nation will get if you replace Bennet?
2. What is the #1 item you will get in there and fight for? Why?
3. What action as a Senator that Bennet has taken so far do you think he was most wrong on? Why?
Harry Doby
Adam, would you please ask Andrew for me:
– What is your shoe size (because size matters)?
– How did you get so dreamy?!
– Have you ever been to Casa Bonita and if so, what did you order and did you join the cliff divers after a beer or two?
– Why aren’t you married? Is it because you haven’t found that right person to love or is it because you love your work so much you’d rather digest policy than champagne and strawberries?
– Have you ever milked a cow, a goat or a sheep? Have you milked all three at the same time? Have you milked another animal that I don’t know about?
– If elected, what motif would you prefer to decorate your office with: dark paneled DC or dead cow skull western?
Thanks Adam, looking forward to the show!
