Jeff Hurd Kisses The MAGA Ring, Exact Manner Of Prostration Unknown

As Ernest Luning reports for the Colorado Springs Gazette’s political blog formerly known as the Colorado Statesman, President Donald Trump has bestowed his blessing on freshman GOP Rep. Jeff Hurd in his primary contest against former Colorado GOP vice-chair and Caucasian cultural ambassador Hope Scheppelman to continue representing the Lauren Boebert-less Third Congressional District: “Colorado’s […]

Tom Tancredo Endorsement is the Kiss of Death

Republican Erik Aadland announced this week that his campaign for CO-07 has received the endorsement of former Congressman and Presidential candidate Tom Tancredo. This is not much of a surprise given that Tancredo endorsed Aadland for U.S. Senate back in September 2021 (Aadland dropped out of that race to run for CO-07 in December 2021). […]

Ex-Sen. Larry Crowder Can’t Handle Two Guys Kissing

Former GOP Sen. Larry Crowder of rural southern Colorado was a mixed bag of culture-warrior gaffes and foibles during his two terms in the Colorado Senate, punctuated by occasional moments of clarity like his vote to expand Medicaid coverage in 2013–the only Republican in the Colorado Senate to do so while the rest bemoaned the […]

Trump’s Kisses of Death Rain Down on Cory Gardner

Here’s President Donald Trump speaking today with his favorite Fox and Friends in a clip eagerly shared by Colorado Democrats, assuring the morning agit-prop faithful that Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado is fully on board with jamming another U.S Supreme Court Justice into Trump’s legacy: TRUMP: I think it’s going to help. I think […]

Sullivan Recall: Kiss That Cash Goodbye

9NEWS’ Kyle Clark put a headstone Monday on the failed attempt by the Colorado Republican Party vice-chair Kristi Burton Brown with support from House Minority Leader Patrick Neville and allies (see below) to recall freshman Democratic state Rep. Tom Sullivan with a look at the “recall campaign’s” fundraising reports–reports that allegedly show precisely $0 raised […]

The Kiss of Death

Walker Stapleton is running as the highly respected Republican Candidate for Governor of the Great State of Colorado. His credentials and talents are impeccable. He has my complete and total Endorsement! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 10, 2018 In a state Donald Trump lost two years ago, where Trump’s popularity has spiraled downward ever […]

Cory Gardner’s Kiss of Death to John McCain

Fresh off his game-changing endorsements of Marco Rubio and then Ted Cruz, Colorado’s junior U.S. Senator Cory Gardner is putting his trademark plastic charm to work helping Arizona Sen. John McCain–who is facing the toughest challenge of his long career from Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick: Senator Cory Gardner recognizes that we need John McCain’s experienced leadership now more […]

Kiss of Death: Gardner Switches Endorsement To Losin’ Ted Cruz

UPDATE: What does it mean when the losing candidate picks a running mate? Answer: Diddly squat. Sorry, Carly Fiorina. —– A press release from Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign today announces the endorsement of Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado, who was left high and dry after his first choice Marco Rubio dropped out of the race: […]

In honor of Pride, BigMedia.org fights anti-gay talk-radio hosts with kisses like yours!

The group of people most attacked on talk radio is, of course, the Muslims. Next comes gays and Hispanics, followed by women. Proof? You have to trust my judgment, based on many happy years of listening. Some conservative shows are respectful of all people, because, contrary to popular belief among progressives, not all conservative radio […]

KVOR host doesn’t want to explain televised gay kiss to kids on New Year’s Eve

(Promoted by Colorado Pols) Last week, I reported that KVOR talk-show host Jeff Crank told his audience it was “disgusting” that NBC showed gay men ushering in the New Year with a big kiss. I tweeted him to find out if he thinks a televised heterosexual kiss would be equally disgusting. Crank, who ran against […]

Republican talk-radio host should explain why he thinks gays kissing on CNN was “disgusting”

KVOR talk-radio host Jeff Crank and his producer were chatting Jan. 5 about how horribly trashy CNN’s New Year’s Eve special was.

Crank was hating CNN’s Cathy Griffin, whom he called a “liberal, leftist scumbag,” and he had nothing kind to say about anchor Anderson Cooper. I don’t love them either, and it sounds like there was plenty to criticize about CNN’s silly New Year’s broadcast.

But one thing that really pissed off Crank, who lost in a vicious GOP primary to Rep. Doug Lamborn in 2008, was CNN’s first on-air kiss of 2013. Here’s what Crank had to say about it:

CRANK:  … You know what they did?  The very first thing, right at the stroke of midnight, you know, all the confetti drops, it’s, “Oh, it’s such a wonderful thing!”  And she turns around and she looks at a guy who is standing there, and I’ve got to tell you , he was a freaky-looking dude,  and she goes, “Isn’t this just wonderful? Happy New Year!” to him.  And he turns around, and his quote-unquote partner turns around, and they kiss each other!

PRODUCER: [inaudible]

CRANK:  Right there!  And [sarcastically] oh, yeah, this was just a heartwarming moment that just happened to come about.  I mean, they just try and push this stuff.  I mean, isn’t that disgusting?

PRODUCER:  That is disgusting.  But we’re in new times now.  It’s good to do that.  It’s cool to do that.  It’s okay to do that.

CRANK:  [laughing]  It’s okay, yeah, yeah, because the President thinks it’s okay.

PRODUCER:  [sarcastically] Yeah.

CRANK:  Look.  But who wants to see – I just don’t want  to see that!  And I don’t want to explain –.  You know, not that the kids are up at midnight, but they are sometimes up at midnight on New Year’s Eve.  It’s maddening, that they get away with this stuff.  And it’s this constant push to change the mores of society.  And yet, somehow we’re the ones that are the social – you know [affecting a curmudgeonly voice] “We’re always pushing our social values on everybody else!”  No.  They are the ones pushing their social values on everybody else.

I tweeted Crank, who’s also a national staffer at Americans for Prosperity, to find out if he gets as upset about heteros kissing on CNN. What, specifically, is the problem with a kiss?

And what to do about it? In Tunisia, kissing in public can allegedly land you in jail for months. Who knows what would happen to gays.

Kiss That Speaker’s Gavel Goodbye, Frank McNulty

The Grand Junction Sentinel’s Charles Ashby updates the Rep. Laura Bradford saga: “I’m frustrated and disappointed in the speaker of the House when last Friday on the phone, when we were discussing this, he said, ‘You’re toast,’” Bradford said. “This isn’t about the last seven days. This has been going on for the past 15 […]

Rick Perry’s Stumbles vs. Romney’s Campaign Ad Kiss of Death

Regret enough for everybody, writes columnist E.J. Dionne at the Washington Post: Rick Perry had a goal going into last night’s debate. He wanted to put Mitt Romney on the defensive for being an inconstant flip-flopper. There is plenty of ammunition for this change. And when Perry’s moment came, he blew it. More than that, […]

Kiss Social Security Good-Bye

(But… but… tax cuts INCREASE tax collections! Because Reagan, that’s why! – promoted by ProgressiveCowgirl) A key component of President Obama’s American Jobs Act is to cut in half the Social Security taxes paid by employees and employers.  This tax holiday doubles down the tax savings already in place for 2011.   I have one […]

The Kiss of Death: Palin Endorses Tipton

CORRECTED: The Fort Collins Coloradoan’s Bob Moore says there’s no confirmation that Palin is actually coming to Aspen tomorrow for this fundraiser, meaning the phrase “standing between Sarah Palin and Karl Rove” in the Salazar campaign’s press release cited below is, uh, metaphorical or something. Corrected version follows, hope Rove’s giant 527 doesn’t run any […]

Bennet’s Big Kiss to Big Oil

From Senator Bennet’s email for donations today: “Too often these days we’re waking up to newspaper headlines that prove what all of us already know: the old ways just aren’t working. In the past few weeks we’ve seen profound examples of this, with lax regulations and long-standing corporate loopholes leading to catastrophic financial and environmental […]

RNC Chairman Kisses Limbaugh’s Ring

Politico reports: Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele says he has reached out to Rush Limbaugh to tell him he meant no offense when he referred to the popular conservative radio host as an “entertainer” whose show can be “incendiary.” “My intent was not to go after Rush – I have enormous respect for Rush […]

vindication for Kissell (NC) and Markey (CO)

Over this past election cycle, I was fortunate enough to actually meet candidates I like and interview them. I sought out Larry Kissell and Betsy Markey because their opponents, Robin Hayes and Marilyn Musgrave, both betrayed their constituents by supporting the job killing CAFTA agreement. As you may know, his opponent, Robin Hayes, has been […]

Bill Clinton: Obama Can “Kiss My Ass”

UPDATE: Bill Clinton and Obama spoke for the first time since the end of Hillary’s campaign on Monday, according to CNN’s The Ticker: Former President Bill Clinton and Barack Obama talked by phone Monday morning, representatives of both sides said, as the Democrats sought to quash rumors that Clinton holds a grudge against the man […]

Interview, Larry Kissell-working class hero-candidate for most targeted house race in the country

Larry Kissell, as some of you know, lost by the closest margin of any congressional race for 2006. What I learned when talking to him is just how much I admire his courage and his story. Kissell was a factory worker for 26 years in central North Carolina. After the numerous job losses due to […]

A Few Words On The MAGA-fication Of Jeff Crank

A story from several days ago in the Colorado Springs Gazette’s political blog formerly known as the Colorado Statesman by veteran reporter Ernest Luning covers what is on the surface not major news, President Donald Trump’s endorsement of GOP freshman Rep. Jeff Crank for re-election to his relatively safe Republican seat in CO-05: President Donald […]

Have You No Pride? The Great Trump Supplication is Underway

Go ahead and tell us why MAGA is not a cult and Donald Trump is not a cult leader. Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.) introduced a bill Friday that would establish President Trump’s […]
