  1. Whats up with the CO real estate tax geometric increases? Get me more smarter.  In Costilla County my home went from $312,000 to $733,800 after appealing to Assessor. I will be heading to County Commissioners Court Monday to fight it again.  9 news showed a representative case for another neighbor. Costilla County is not Aspen, Vail etc.

      1. Oh man, I hate to even think about what the numbers are like in Summit County and other resort areas. For the stereotypical wealthy second/third/etc. home owners, probably not horribly painful, but for the rest? Yowza.

  2. Headline of the day: h/t Josh Marshall at TPM.

“GOPers Hit the Half-Drowned Ron with Their Paddles as He Struggles to Climb Back in the Campaign Boat”

In today’s episode of the on-going collapse of the DeSantis campaign we have a new moment which we might see as the three severed segments of Dead Bounce Ron roiling and twitching around much like a worm cut into three pieces but continuing to wiggle and move about almost as if nothing had happened. Yesterday in response to a question about ersatz candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr, DeSantis said that while he wouldn’t choose Kennedy as his Vice President he would consider him to run the FDA or CDC.

  3. Going to be tough to challenge Bidenonomics for the next few months of the campaign.  Today's news:

AP: US economy unexpectedly accelerated to a 2.4% growth rate in April-June quarter despite Fed hikes

      * "Last quarter’s expansion was well above the 1.5% annual rate that economists had forecast."

      * "business investment, which surged at a 5.7% annual pace, the fastest rate since late 2021"

      * "Chair Jerome Powell revealed that the central bank’s staff economists no longer foresee a recession in the United States."

      * " At 3.6% in June, the unemployment rate hovers just above a five-decade low."

      * "Inflation-adjusted hourly pay rose 1.4% in June from a year earlier, the sharpest such gain since early 2021."

  4. Look at that business investment number! It's as if Biden put us back on the path to CAPITALism instead of GOP robber-barron-style profiteering.

    1. To be fair, it is posted on FoxNews.com and the comments are unanimous that people this old and frail should not be running our country. They are not being any more or less critical of the similar Feinstein lapse today.

      1. That was my point, and I agree. I do remember some pretty vile stuff lodged against DF.  I admire BoBo’s restraint today. Oh, wait…

      2. But of course, DJT and the folks on the Q Continuum hate the Old Crow a/k/a Moscow Mitch and his Chinese-American wife so Fox would enjoy pissing on McConnell.

  5. I have been following Sen Feintein for a while, going back to the 70's.  The last several years have been difficult. Her life and care is like so many geratric people and their families, but in at different level, a very different level.  I do think she is setting up her final days and distribution of wealth (there is a lot of that) because she will not finish her term.  Hopefully she tells a lot of people to go to Hades.

    1. Also, I'm not a fan of public servants ending up as billionaires (or of billionaires generally speaking). So the sooner she leaves the better in my book. I'm not that optimistic though that the Democratic party won't engineer an equally neoliberal replacement.

    1. Duke, the funniest thing about that is that Trumpy's legal team met with Smith yesterday, then Dumb Donny pronounced that it "was a very productive meeting". Then ON THE SAME DAY Smith filed the additional charges.

An intentional kick in the nuts, and a swift one at that!
