All right, everybody. Out for volleyball!
Imagine if Frodo was all like "Sauron is bad, but Gandalf has done some morally gray stuff too, so I'll just stay home." H/T F/B.
You been talking to Dust Puppy again, Parkie?
Emulate kwtree — She even organizes orcs!
You just have to appeal to their self-interest." Sauron doesn't care how many orcs die – he'll just make more – strike for your freedom to rampage!".
It is somewhat challenging to organize folks who will cook and eat you , given a chance.
So Frodo's angling for a jerb in the liberal (lol) MSM?
So it looks like the Republicans are going to do well in the election because the message the voters have taken to heart is that the Republicans are opposed to inflation and crime and the Democrats are in favor of both.
This would have been so so so easy for Democrats to craft a compelling message. That they too are opposed to both, have passed legislation to reduce each, and have more legislation lined up.
But instead they went with “who cares about inflation and crime – let’s talk about abortion.”
Its professional malpractice!
A bit harsh David. Democrats actually do things to deal with inflation and crime but don't get any credit for it. The malpractice you speak of takes place in the media reporting. Eeyore would find a friend in you but that doesn't make it true.
The media is what it is. The job of the Democratic campaigns is to get their message out in spite of how the media works, not be an Eeyore and say “poor me, the media isn’t listening to me so I can’t be successful at messaging.”
It’s the job of these highly paid experienced professionals to get across their message successfully. Many times they’re limited because the underlying facts are hard to spin and they’re left polishing the turd.
But this should be an easy one – because I assume most Democratic politicians are opposed to inflation & crime. This should have been a slam dunk.
So I don’t give them a pass because the media is not cooperating as much as they would like. They blew an easy layup.
And you are not helping us Democrats reach success when you make excuses for campaign failures.
But how can you credibly talk about crime without talking about gun violence. Those are serious crimes that Democrats and Independents want addressed. Democrats talk about gun violence and prevention solutions but the media doesn't recognize it as conversations about crime. Crime is a colored subject. It doesn't matter that the shooter in St. Louis had an AK and 600 rounds of ammo. Only two people were murdered so it really isn't that big a deal. Inflation is the same story. The US is not alone in experiencing inflation. It is a common occurrence around the world. Democratic candidates point this out but the media shrugs. What should Democratic candidates do other than tell the truth and point out the obvious which is what they are doing now.
G.G. The Dem's failure is not in their policies. It's their failure to blow their own horn. They ought to know by now that the media aren't going to do it for them. Good government and sound policy-making are dog-bites-man. Boorrinng.
Yes – exactly.
When I was CEO I would constantly tell my employees "I don't care if you make me happy, I care that I appreciate you." My point was, what matters is success, not making me feel good.
I worry that a lot of people running these campaigns are like GG where they are focused on telling everyone they're doing a good job rather than saying they need to step up their game.
I just saw Hiedi G(anal)’s commercial that blames Polis for inflation. Included is a gas pump’s cost rising quickly. But, upon inspection, the price per gallon is $4.529. Today’s gas price for regular gas is about $3,21. Lying piece of shit. I guess the Dems could call this out, but it’s nearly impossible to respond to all of the lies.
BTW – Still waiting for those furry pictures…..
Saw $3.17 earlier today at one of the cheapie stations in Lakewood.
Conoco at 3400 block of South Broadway is (today) $1.99
Gas at $2.75 at the Longmont exit of I-25. Love gas wars!
Uh … abortion isn’t the only topic being talked about or, more measurably, what is being focused on with advertising:
You might enjoy perusing this article, Whitey. Read it all the way to the end and then provide some cogent feedback to the group?
John Fetterman and the Media's 2024 Problem
I don't read or post on Twitter.
What a journalist thinks is nothing but opinion. A real journalist tells the facts. Your link was about opinion.
That was an actual article written by conservative-leaning journalists referencing (in part) Tweets from the debate.
Try harder.
PP just admitted they don't read. They don't post on Twitter, either. I don't find either surprising.
So I assume you don't watch Fox or MSNBC?
Whitey strikes me as more of an OAN kinda guy…
Those bozos don't even pretend to be real journalists.
That's a really good article. And worrisome that the really smart people who have been in journalism are searching for an answer for this – and haven't found one (yet).
That’s the look you give when you realize your debating partner just called for local government officials to decide whether a woman has the right to an abortion.
Amy Schumer… “ask your mom’s boyfriend”. https://twitter.com/shannonrwatts/status/1585246825602486273
So, Pear, you're mocking a person with a disability (Fetterman) just like your President Cheeto mocked that reporter with a movement disorder during the 2016 campaign?
Actually I’m mocking all of you. That’s just ONE picture of how voters feel about stupid Democrat policies. It just happens to be the moment Fetterman realized he is on the wrong side of America.
Oh, OK. I thought that was the moment Fetterman heard that Oz favors first cousins procreating.
Maybe our pfruity pfriend harbors a life long crush on a first cousin of theirs, and now decided that anyone who isn't in favor of getting with first cousins is against America.
Democracy is on life support:
I came across an interesting tidbit from the Kansas abortion amendment. I have no idea whether the millennials and women will mirror this phenomena at a national scale but here are the numbers. It demonstrates just how difficult it is to pick up the preferences of a demographic who only communicate with a cell phone and don't answer polls:
Co-efficient Poll for the Kansas amendment to remove the constitutional right to an abortion:
YES: 47%
NO: 43%
Actual election results:
YES: 41%
NO: 59%
Michael, you won't believe the outrageous woke crap I just saw on Fox. Call me on my land line and I'll tell you all about it!
“The Pfürer”
CO Sec of State reports 271,407 ballots in as of midnight.
1,083 voted in person.
roughly… 90,000 Democrats, 80,000 Republicans, 98,000 Unaffiliated.
Republicans will wait until election day. Dems need a big early count to offset.
In the past couple of Colorado statewide elections, the Unaffiliated broke at least 60-40 for Democratic candidates. Republicans have a hard time catching up to Democrats with their votes on the final days of the election, and really have no answer to the 20% bulge among the largest group of voters.
Biden admin is a steady hand so far in energy policy. If there were any real conservatives remaining they would be encouraged.
