“If there is not the war, you don’t get the great general; if there is not a great occasion, you don’t get a great statesman; if Lincoln had lived in a time of peace, no one would have known his name.”

    1. When you’ve lost Ann Coulter …

I was well familiar with what a narcissistic, ridiculous, tacky, vulgar, arriviste this guy was”, she said during an interview on Andrew Sullivan’s Dishcast. “That I knew about. The one thing I underestimated, in fact, did not see at all, is, I had no idea how abjectly stupid the man is.”

      1. Did not know the word "arriviste," and I know all the best words, but here's the def from the dic:

"an ambitious or ruthlessly self-seeking person, especially one who has recently acquired wealth or social status"

  1. Deliciously shitty week in Maga Land:

    1) Trump can't keep himself from talking and incriminating himself

    2) Palin lost

    3) Fox is turning on Trump

    4) Trumpy candidates are distancing themselves from TFG

    5) The indictment is coming…

    Very, very good to see

  2. Daily Kos Morning Digest had this little nugget:

CO-Gov: Remington Research Group (R) for Heidi Ganahl: Jared Polis (D-inc): 49, Heidi Ganahl (R): 42

Ganahl's poll argues that she will make up ground after Polis is attacked on his "positions on fentanyl, crime, and education." So far, though, major outside groups have shown little interest in aiding Ganahl, who faces a huge financial deficit against the self-funding governor.

The message for the top of the state ticket is:  "two months to the end of the election and I'm only down 7%."

The move doesn't immediately strike me as a strong campaign message in a Blue state. It may encourage voters to not stay home, but in a state with active voter registrations of 25% Republicans, 28% Democrats, and 45% Unaffiliated, more voters may not be the smart play.

  3. Protecting Teens From Big Tech: Five Policy Ideas for States

Around 2012, something began to go wrong in the lives of teens. Depression, self-harm, suicide attempts, and suicide all increased sharply among U.S. adolescents between 2011 and 2019, with similar trends worldwide. The increase occurred at the same time social media use moved from optional to virtually mandatory among teens, making social media a prime suspect for the sudden rise in youth mental health issues.

Skip over the first half and read the 5 suggestions – they're interesting.

    1. "Confusing" … to those who think in a binary fashion.

"Convoluted" … for those challenged by surveys that allow more than one answer per question.

"a scam to rig elections” that upsets those who prefer THEIR scam to rig elections.

"“Our Republican nominees earned nearly 60% of Alaskans’ votes on the ballot," … and then, about 30,000 of those Alaskans who voted for one Republican wouldn't support the other one. One more indication that REPUBLICANS 'R' REVOLTING.
