Abortion rights: what you can do to fight for progress this week (February 22)

Here in Colorado, abortion rights were the law before Roe v. Wade extended those rights to everyone in America.

In 2022, a radical shift at the U.S. Supreme Court has changed everything. Abortion rights that were once guaranteed across America are facing a threat that was considered unthinkable just a few years ago. If Roe is overturned by the 6-3 right wing Supreme Court, Colorado will become a haven for abortion care as a dozen states automatically trigger bans on abortion based on the decision. Already after the Court allowed new abortion restrictions to take effect while the legal fight goes on, Colorado is seeing greatly increased demand for abortion care.

That’s why it’s so important that we pass the Reproductive Health Equity Act (RHEA), legislation just introduced in the Colorado General Assembly to protect fundamental abortion rights in Colorado even is Roe v. Wade is overturned. Click here to join the coalition fighting to pass RHEA this legislative session.

Eight years ago, Colorado voters were assured that allowing the U.S. Senate to fall into in Republican hands would “pose no threat to abortion rights.” [1] Today, we know this was a terrible falsehood that lulled Coloradans into complacency. We can never take abortion rights for granted again.

Take a moment right now to sign the petition urging lawmakers to pass the Reproductive Health Equity Act (RHEA), and stand by for more ways to help on this critically important issue.

Thanks for your help! Here are a few more great ways to fight for progress for the week of February 22, 2022:
