  1. Paging Kamala Harris: has anyone seen her commenting, speaking out, being interviewed, working Congress on any of the big bills?

I haven’t, and I follow most mainstream / liberal news outlets. I was disturbed by  this CNN article about Harris’ absence. Then Psaki came to the Veep’s defense

It’s also possible that Harris’ input is not being sought, or she is just being ignored

    1. That last bit may be a big part of it. She seems to have made a positive impression on the French.

She will be attacked at every opportunity. There is plenty of time to promote Kamala. Maybe staying under the radar is a positive.

      1. They should send her out to make a bunch of dog whistle pronouncement about CRT and, I dunno, the food pyramid maybe, to trigger the wingnuts.

Give them something to rant about while the Dems do grown-up business.

    1. The Arapaho called it "Heey-otoyoo", or "Long Mountain". The Spanish called it "Montaña del Sol," which is nicely poetic, or "El Capitán." Any of those names would be more interesting than that of Zebulon Pike, who was captured by the Spanish during an illegal military incursion into Spanish territory. The same expedition during which he first saw the mountin.

Not that I am proposing we change it at this point, of course.

        1. Wagering is not an ill habit in Gilpin Duke.  Why not?  Good habits like calling mom on Mother's Day are self-sustaining.  Ill habits like drinking a bottle of Vodka every night tend to be unsustainable.  At some point your body can't continue to filter out all the toxins.  Would you rather call mom more often or drink yourself to death.  Seems like reinforcing the good ones is better than feeding the bad ones.

  2. It’s like watching the season finale of Mean Girls…

McConnell Planned To Disinvite Trump From Biden’s Inauguration, McCarthy Squealed To Trump About Plan

McCarthy, Karl writes, would alert the White House about McConnell’s plan to disinvite Trump. And before the letter could be drafted, “Trump sent out a tweet saying he wouldn’t be attending.” Trump apparently wanted people to think it was his decision alone to become the first outgoing president after an election to fail to attend an inauguration since Andrew Johnson skipped the inauguration of Ulysses S. Grant in 1869, Karl writes.

    1. I guess Kevvy got played as the perfect patsy here . . .

. . . Mitch never had to send the letter (as if that were ever his actual intention); Ttump didn’t attend, but still got to save face by “his” refusal, and all the members of the “He Man [Biden] Haters Club” survived to appear in the next episode of Our [Dipshits] Gang.

  3. The Colorado Supreme Court today approved the Independent Redistricting Commission's plans for redistricting the state legislature. I'll shed no tears over being drawn out of the Shawn Mitchell/Vicki Marble/Barbara Kirkmeyer senate district.

  4. Not terribly unexpected, but an announcement today made it official:

“MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, the longest-serving current member of the Senate, said Monday he will not seek reelection next year to the seat he has held for eight terms.”

And shortly afterwards: “Phil Scott, the state’s Republican governor who frequently criticized former President Donald Trump and has called for civility in politics, reiterated Monday that he is not interested in running.”

What do you suppose it is about NE Republican governors refusing to run for the Senate?

  5. And, yet another memo . . .

Read the memo from Trump aide’s office making the case to fire Defense Secretary Mark Esper

It includes bullet points outlining what Karl calls Esper’s “sins against Trumpism,” including that he “barred the Confederate flag” on military bases, “opposed the President’s direction to utilize American forces to put down riots,” “focused the Department on Russia,” and was “actively pushing for ‘diversity and inclusion.'”

    https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/read-memo-trump-aides-office-making-case-fire/story?id=81087482

Also behind the WaPo paywall at: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/11/15/newly-disclosed-memo-reveals-trumps-plot-turn-military-into-his-personal-goon-squad/

. . . Is anyone really surprised that the Cadette Bonespurs and the Trumpers wanted the US military as their own, personal goon squad??

    1. Without resistance from people like General Milley and Esper it could have actually happened. That is some seriously scary shit. I don't know how anyone can claim to support Trump and democracy at the same time.
