    1. There was Jimmy and Tommy and me. And there was Anthony Stabile. Frankie Carbone. And then there was Mo Black's brother, Fat Andy, and his guys, Frankie the Wop and Freddy No Nose. And then there was Pete the Killer, who was Sally Balls' brother. Then you had Nickey Eyes and Mikey Francese.

And Fat Donnie Two-Times, who got that nickname because he said everything twice.

    2. Gotta go back to when he would have first gotten his name … the 80s.

The Guardian ran a story pointing to Trump building when concrete in NY was well controlled:

In 2013, three years before Trump’s presidential victory, David Letterman asked him about it bluntly on his CBS talkshow.

“Have you ever knowingly done business with organized crime?” the host asked.

Trump grimaced, then said: “I’ve really tried to stay away from them as much as possible.

“You know, growing up in New York and doing business in New York, I would say there might have been one of those characters along the way, but generally speaking I like to stay away from that group.”

Then he added: “I have met on occasion a few of those people. They happen to be very nice people.”

  1. Removing confederate general names from military bases is a good idea.
the history lesson doomed to repeat  bs is stoopid.

We are not going to name a base after Kim Jong anything
    Nor any other foreign leader.

This guy gets it right (finally)
    https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2020/06/take-confederate-names-off-our-army-bases/612832/

    But why stop at bases?
Isn't there a high school in Weld county that still calls themselves the Johnny Reb Losers? They fly confederate battle flags and dress some poor kid up as a confederate soldier?

    Also – Breckenridge.
I know – but we spell it different – but that guy was a Confederate General. And a lawyer.

You got to change the name. How about Breck? Or Brick?

        1. Right…things were different in the late 70s. We had pet names for all of them

…Skistoned, Trailerthorne, Freakshow, …"Somewhat" county had 'em all.

  2. Generalissimo Bone Spurs is really, really pissed he can't crush this flower of freedom

Free food and free speech at neighborhood’s “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone”

“Take back your city NOW,” Trump wrote in a tweet directed at Mayor Jenny Durkan and Gov. Jay Inslee that he repeated Thursday. “If you don’t do it, I will. This is not a game.”

Durkan responded with a tweet of her own: “Make us all safe. Go back to your bunker.”

The protest zone increasingly has functioned with the tacit blessing of the city. Harold Scoggins, the fire chief, was there Wednesday, chatting with protesters, helping set up a call with the police department and making sure the area had portable toilets and sanitation services.

“I have no idea where we’re headed,” Scoggins said. “We’ve been working step by step on how to build a relationship, build trust in small things, so we can figure this out together.”

    1. Somewhere a group of Cliven Bundy types are planning an unauthorized incursion into the CHAZ by a self appointed, T***p encouraged militia. Bill Barr seems a likely source for extra-judicial command and control. I hope I am wrong. But I hope those in Seattle are prepared for such an eventuality.

      1. I've had to use a Cliven Bundy reference twice this week to my D-stan friends who have taken it upon themselves to elevate their blood pressure over the Seattle event.

  3. And just how did he get a gun?

Suspect in ambush on deputy is dead. LOS ANGELES»The man suspected of ambushing and shooting a sheriff’s deputy is dead after a shootout with police, authorities said Thursday.

Mason James Lira, 26, was accused of ambushing and seriously injuring a San Luis Obispo County sheriff’s deputy and killing a transient Wednesday in Paso Robles. The attacks sent off a manhunt in the central coast that ended Thursday in the shootout.

Details were not immediately available. Lira’s father says his son had several mental illnesses and did not take his medication.

    — Denver Post wire services

    1. Moreover, CA has had a red flag law on the books since last year.

The father, who slept with a gun at the ready for fear that he'd be attacked, could have applied for it.

  4. Oh Noes!  Twitter is cutting off Trump's daily intelligence briefings!

Twitter uncovers state-backed networks linked to China, Russia, Turkey

Earlier this week, the European Commission accused Moscow and Beijing of peddling disinformation.

Twitter permanently removed more than 32,000 accounts linked to three distinct operations attributed to China, Russia and Turkey violating the platform's manipulation policies, the social media company said Friday.

  5. WAPO "Ranking Committee" veers away from President and Vice President speculation, looking at Senate seats likely to flip.  And Cory is #3 !!  after the tie between McSally and Jones. Most positive comment from any of the rankers: Charles Lane, saying "If some Republicans and independents cross over to vote against Trump in the fall, some may try to compensate by voting for a Republican in a Senate race. In extremely close states such as Maine and Colorado, where the Republican is more moderate than Trump, that could influence the outcome."

  6. Wash post muses that Hick’s ethics problems may give Romo a chance to upset him, but goes on to note Romo lost two “statewide” races after leaving legislature.

Not true.  He did lose a statewide senate primary to bennet.  But his 2016 loss to Mike Coffman was in the 6th CD, which is only one of seven house districts.

Either Romo or Hick probably will beat Gardner, whose lips have been superglued to Trump’s butt.
