Rosen Blames Sirota for His Mosque Remarks

  • by: Colorado Pols

Conservative Denver radio host and Denver Post columnist Mike Rosen had a rough week of bad press (or perhaps good press, since we still think he did this on purpose) for suggesting that someone should hijack an Iranian plane and fly it into a mosque in New York. So what’s his excuse?

Apparently it’s David Sirota’s fault, as Westword explains:

According to Rosen, the audience attending the face-off involving him, Sirota and KHOW’s Peter Boyles earlier this month understood his tongue was in his cheek when he said, “I think they should be allowed to build it, following the hijacking of an Iranian plane right into that building and blow it to smithereens.” And there was a good reason for that, he believes.

“The people cheering or laughing after I said that were mostly my listeners,” he says. “And that surprised me. There were 400 people in the room, and I thought Sirota’s left-wing minions would dominate the hall. But there were so many more of my listeners than I’d expected, and they knew I was being ironic.”…

…As for Sirota’s spotlighting of the comment on the Huffington Post, Rosen says it was worse than a violation of collegiality; he and Sirota both work for Clear Channel stations. “It was grossly unprofessional,” he maintains…

To recap, Rosen makes a horribly insensitive comment in a public debate, and it’s Sirota’s fault for telling people about it? Uh…yeah.

And of course, as Rosen says, listeners “knew I was being ironic,” insinuating that it was your fault if you were offended because other people knew he was “being ironic.” Instead of blaming Sirota or others for this, maybe it would be best to just say, Hey, I made a bad decision and said something stupid in a poor attempt to get a laugh. I apologize.

  1. what a total moronic tool.

And then those of us Offended are “stupid” for being offended?

Rosen is a total and complete dildo, good for only one purpose, mental masturbation.

Why he has not been fired (from the pravda and/or KKKOA) for his advocating another attack on NY is not that dificult to understand. The “good ol Boy” republican network.

had this been a Democrat who advocated Violence… would be FIRED even if and before He/She could claim Satire.

    1. That’s why Ann Coulter always says something truly outlandish whenever she’s hawking a new book. It’s like printing money.

But you say that like it’s a good thing.

      1. since he’s one of the best here posting truly outlandish drivel.  It always helps for Beej to expunge sanity from his discourse and soothe the errant voices he hears.

No, he doesn’t reap any monetary rewards,  for him all responses glorify and reward the dumb that’s his existence.

Of course Beej would attempt to blame the left for Rosen’s idiocy and choose to agree with the hate-wrapped hypocrisy of his statements.  Beej hopes to be just like Rosen when he grows up.

          1. Used to be the truly disturbed knew their place and did not expose themselves. Free speech or not.

then education budget cuts happened. Society  dumbed down and a whole market for insanity laced drivel across the airwaves ensued.

            1. precisely because teacher’s unions became more concerned about paychecks rather than teaching kids. Despite the best efforts of Michelle Rhee, Arne Duncan, and even Michael Bennet, this still plagues our society today. Thank God for reformers like Chris Christie, and shame on those who disparage choice and competition in education.

              1. Came about and caters to those less intelligent people in society…

As you parrot those particular opinions bj… what does that say about your intelligence?

Do Not answer that! YOU outed your self in this area, long ago.

BTW I do not “disparage choice and competition in education.” Actually the choice is to stay in school and work hard at learning or not. Whatever school you attend (Public or private)

and the competition is your fellow students. It shouldn’t be the school better able to pay teachers more than another.

                  1. … if I’ve ever met a person LESS capable of thinking for himself, I can’t remember him.

It’s so funny – everything you say is not is, IS true, and vice versa. You’re fooling no one, bud.

              2. there is a simple answer

                that is wrong.

                Fortunately, we can always

                count on the algorithm

                that calls itself The Beej

                to champion

                the simple and the wrong.

                They don’t make superheros

                like they used to.

                1. This was not a partisan anything.  It’s a really interesting book that digests what historically Jesus actually said.  I think you’d dig it.

                    1. I honestly think Ari would like the book.  It’s about 80 years old, and it was one of my favorite reads, and it has nothing to do with politics.

It basically breaks down how brilliant what Jesus actually is thought to have historically said.  It really highlights acceptance, and unconditional love, and has nothing to do with some of the more divisive messages some try to derive out of the new testament.

                    2. It sounds like a good book. I’ll check it out.

I’ve read “Jesus: A Revolutionary Biography” which came out in the 90s. I can’t remember the author’s name but it was short and sweet.

                    3. This is not a long book.  I think you’ll like it – it’s what I go to when I hear people trying to use the bible (the New Testament, anyway) to justify homophobia, racism, etc.

It’s always really heartening, and a totally interesting read.

I’m not a very religious guy – I don’t go to church, etc., I just really like what I hear from parts of it in a very personal manner.

Let me know if I can send you a copy of that book.

    2. “The end justifies the means.”

As Phoenix Rising said, a truer summary of current Republican thought was never uttered.

Right or wrong doesn’t matter any more. The only thing that matters is raw power. Very sad.

  2. They make hateful, unsupportable commentary out in the public view all the time. Then when somebody calls them on it, they say, “Oh I was just joking!” In their own little minds (and to their own little supporters) it makes it all right.

Observe across the future, I’ve seen it over and over.

  3. I like Mike Rosen, for the most part. He’s one of the more reasonable Republican commentators out there. Doesn’t he realize how much better it would be for ALL in the long run if he could only summon up the courage to apologize for a stupid attempt at a joke?

  4. …Republicans always taught me that it is ‘LIBERALS’ who point the finger, blame others, and endlessly whine, like a disenfranchised dramaqueen….

Rosen needs to be a MAN and take ownership of his words, because right now? He’s a whiny, little…

  5. Whether it was a joke or not, I am sick of this Muslim bashing, and am officially becoming a democrat as a result of it. Just last night I gave a large sum of money to the democrats to use for candidates who have been targeted either because they support Muslims or the Islamic Center near Ground Zero.
