New Ad Smacks Stapleton for Not Doing His Job

  • by: Colorado Pols

A new television ad is up on the air today from a group called “Good Jobs Colorado” targeting Republican gubernatorial candidate Walker Stapleton over his persistent refusal to actually do his job as State Treasurer:

Stapleton’s lax attendance record at PERA Board meetings has been well-documented for several years now. Stapleton’s general indifference about the job he was elected to do (twice) came up repeatedly in the Republican gubernatorial primary last spring, and it was a certainty that this narrative would resurface in the General Election.

Stapleton also had to fend off accusations about his light work schedule during his bid for re-election as State Treasurer in 2014. Apparently he did not learn much from that experience; it’s hard to convince voters that you are the right guy for the top job in the state when you barely showed up for work at your last gig.

    1. All of Colorado cares whether they get a part-time Governor representing 1/3 or less of our citizens in Stumbleton, or a full-time governor for all Coloradans in Polis.  That's the issue you really don't want to address, Nutter, isn't it?

    2. What was the deputy able to do? Couldn't vote. Can't find anything indicating he was a major source of ideas or able to improve and fine tune other members' suggestions.

And do you really want to equate an official government-established board for oversight of a pension fund with a voluntary committee designed to advocate for a government commitment?

And can we get attendance records for the committees Stapleton touts on his bio page, "Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver, as well as the Denver Metro Council of the El Pomar Foundation." ??

  1. To paraphrase Dean Wormer of Animal House fame, "Lazy, incompetent and dishonest is no way to go though life." The GOP really hitched its wagon to a star this time.
