How to Influence the Colorado Legislature...from Florida

Former Senator Minority Leader Chris Holbert (R-Parker) during one of those “Republicans go look at the Mexican border” photo ops.

If you’ve been wondering what former Republican Senate Minority Leader Chris Holbert has been doing lately, you’re in luck!

Holbert served two terms in the State House of Representatives before being elected to the State Senate in 2014 (Highlands Ranch/Parker). He was elevated to Senate Minority Leader in 2019, where he served until resigning from the legislature in May 2022 in order to move to Florida. Holbert was, frankly, kind of a jackass who didn’t shy away from vomiting out nonsense opinions mixed with inaccurate facts and was known to abandon his own legislation in the face of criticism. In other words, he would feel perfectly at home in today’s Republican caucus.

We hadn’t heard anything about Holbert since he ensconced to the land of Mickey Mouse, alligators, and unvaccinated weirdos, but we were recently directed to a YouTube page where Holbert seems to be trying to be some sort of Colorado legislative influencer person.

Holbert has been working out of Bradenton, Florida as a “Government Relations Consultant,” but apparently those jobs were largely already taken in the red state of Florida. Holbert launched a video channel about Colorado sometime last year, and this week began posting daily videos (generating dozens of views) about the 2026 COLORADO legislative session. Holbert’s videos also feature elementary explainers about how the legislature operates and how to “advocate effectively at the Colorado Capitol…nevermind that Holbert was pretty terrible at this when he actually worked at the Colorado Capitol.

Some of Holbert’s videos include some ass-covering warnings:

Holbert probably should have included this disclaimer as well: Please note that I haven’t lived anywhere near Colorado since 2022.

We don’t have a problem with Holbert’s attempt to be a YouTube influencer in his mid-60s, but it is definitely…odd. And lest you think we’re just bashing Holbert, there’s a good chance that we could double his subscribers by linking to his channel. Smash that subscribe button, kids!

“It Helps to Know Colorado,” brought to you by a guy who lives in Florida. We couldn’t make this up if we tried.
