Democratic candidate for Attorney General Stan Garnett announced an endorsement by the Fraternal Order of Police Colorado Lodge this morning, the state’s largest organization of current and former law enforcement officers. This is a big endorsement for Garnett that will weigh heavily in the decision making process of many independent voters. One might even consider the failure of the F.O.P. to endorse the incumbent chief law enforcement officer of Colorado intriguing all by itself!

Colorado Attorney General candidate Stan Garnett today is proud to announce that he has won the unanimous endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police Colorado State Lodge, the largest representative police organization not only in Colorado, but also the entire country.
“We endorsed him based on his professionalism, his dedication to law enforcement, his openness, plus his willingness and ability to work with individual officers,” said Michael Violette, Executive Director of the Fraternal Order of Police Colorado State Lodge. “Our membership, particularly in Boulder County, is very cognizant of the positive changes that took place when Stan took office as the Boulder County District Attorney.”
The official letter of endorsement from the organization states, in part, “Stan is an aggressive prosecutor and a strong advocate for the safety and the security of the people he represents. A battle-tested prosecutor, he has established himself as a person of uncommon passion and integrity.”
Garnett said he is honored and humbled to win the endorsement of the state FOP, which represents over 5,000 sworn law enforcement officers.
“Since taking office in the 20th Judicial District, I have made it a priority to work closely with every agency in my jurisdiction, to make sure the work of the dedicated officers in my county is supported and enhanced to the greatest degree possible by myself and my staff,” said Garnett. “As the next Attorney General, I will continue to make our citizens’ public safety a central priority, and I’m confident my strong relationship with Colorado’s law enforcement officers will be key to keeping that pledge.”
