Cheney coming to Denver to be deposed

Welcome to the bench Judge Arguello.  Making her mark early, Judge Arguello will require Cheney to be deposed.

In April, U.S. Magistrate Judge Craig Shaffer denied Lane’s request to depose Cheney, finding that he did not have information relevant enough for a deposition.

Lane appealed the decision.

Today, U.S. District Judge Christine Arguello overturned Shaffer’s decision and will allow Cheney to be served with a subpoena for a deposition.

Was Cheney scared-for-his-life by an arm pat, or did the Secret Service go too far in roughing up this guy?

    1. He only shoots his friends.  What’s he gonna do to us?  What we really need are pasties and nude underpants.  “I’m already naked, I swear!”

    1. How could that possibly afford him an exemption from actually showing up? (I can understand judicial reluctance to allow sitting presidents, or their vices, be subpoenaed, but what’s this interfere with? Fishing?)

      1. .

If it’s slang for “disembowel,” will they be selling tickets at Ticketmaster.com ?

If they did, could I afford one ?

        …..

Actually, if its like depositions in most civil/ tort actions, someone will make an appointment and then meet him in Jackson Hole at some lawyer’s office.

(Do terrorists/ avenging Iraqis even know that he lives in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and his address is in the phone book, and his house is highlighted in Google Maps ?)

He will have a phalanx of lawyers there, objecting to every question, meaning he won’t actually answer any of them.

A court reporter will record it for posterity.

The transcript will be leaked within a week.

        .

        1. in certain circumstances. But Barron’s right, they can all fly up to the Cheney Ranch or nearby in Jackson Hole. If they did a video deposition, who’d wanna bet it’d be streaming on the Internet within minutes?
