Conservative Republican State Senator Ted Harvey Announces Candidacy for 6th Congressional District

Denver , CO:  Conservative Republican State Senator Ted Harvey announced his candidacy for the 6th Congressional District today on the steps of the State Capitol.

In announcing his candidacy, Senator Harvey touted his conservative experience on issues important to the district.  “As an elected legislator for the past 6 years, I’ve worked hard to reduce taxes, shrink government, as well as pass legislation to protect life and crack down on illegal immigration,” said Harvey.  “As a Member of Congress, voters know they can count on me to continue my proven record of conservative leadership on the issues most important to them.”

Senator Harvey was joined by several Republican State Representatives and Senators at the event.  Already, the Ted Harvey for Congress campaign has earned support from half the Republican delegation in both the State House and State Senate as well as numerous county officials from across the district.

Initial support for Harvey among Colorado legislators includes:

Rep. Rob Witwer (R)  Sen. Mike Kopp (R)
Rep. Ken Summers (R)  Sen. Scott Renfroe (R)
Rep. Steve King (R)  Sen. Josh Penry (R)
Rep. Jim Kerr (R)  Sen. Greg Brophy (R)
Rep. Mike May (R)  Sen. Shawn Mitchell (R)
Rep. Ray Rose (R)  Sen. Dave Schultheis (R)
Rep. Cory Gardner (R)  Sen. Ken Kester (R)

Rep. Kevin Lundberg (R)  Rep. Jerry Sonnenberg (R)
Rep. Amy Stephens (R)

“I’m proud to have the support of so many of my colleagues and grassroots leaders because they know I will work hard to champion conservative values in Congress like Tom Tancredo has,”  Concluded Senator Harvey.

  1. and does this mean he’s not running for re-election? Boy will that ray of sunshine not be missed.

Of course he would have the support of those from the far right Party of Denial. This is the same group of radicals who want to deny health care, deny public education, deny global warming exists, and deny Iraq is a mess. Those are winning issues for Harvey!

  2. But I can at least recommend the diary.  Thanks for the info.

Harvey isn’t exactly the shining beacon of light in the Senate that I’d hope for in a Congressional candidate…  Is he term-limited or up for re-election in ’08?

      1. so let me put it another way.  Is he going to run for Congress, as well as for State Senator as a back up so he doesn’t have to leave politics if/when he loses the primary?

        Is he a carreer politician?

        1. You’re clearly not listening, or you just don’t know anything about the state legislature.

State Senate terms are four years long.

Harvey was elected in 2006, which means his current (and first term) won’t end until 2010.

            1. of the time, but not on this.

Diana DeGette didn’t resign her seat when she ran for congress.  Mark Udall didn’t resign his seat to run for congress (he also hasn’t resigned his seat to run for Senate).  Neither of the Brothers Salazar resigned their day jobs when they ran for their current offices.

  3. so nostalgic! I remember the article I found by mp3 search saying that he has claimed on his website and in literature that he was CRTL’s “Legislator of the Year,” and otherwise implying strong support from CRTL. The “Legislator of the Year” designation is true, but at the same time deceptive. That award was for a previous year, when he skewered pro-abortion Democrats on the House floor in a nationally publicized speech regarding Ms. Giana Jessen — the young lady who survived a saline abortion, but who now suffers from abortion-related Muscular Dystrophy. We still applaud Ted for his action on that day, but it is inappropriate and unethical that he would imply our support and endorsement, when he knows he does not agree with our uncompromised stance on legislation.

  4. To be social is very positive aspect in this age of materialism. Life is moving very fast and embedded with full luxuries. In this fast life actual exam is too facilitating for your comfort and minimizing all tensions.
