We’ve updated The Denver Line for the 2011 Mayoral Race. Michael Hancock, James Mejia and Chris Romer are all in about the same spot at the top, with Carol Boigon poised to join them once she makes a formal announcement. Doug Linkhart has made his bid formal, but he hasn’t done much to generate any real excitement or interest in his candidacy as of yet.
The field is far from set, and with five months to go and no obvious frontrunner, it’s a decent bet that the next Mayor of Denver is still well off the radar.

By my count, there are 18 candidates/probable candidates andthyat does not include Nevitt or Morrissey as I am airly sure neither will run.
I think your Mayoral Line is LAME!
Sorry but I’ve talked to many engaged Denverites.
Doug Linkhart is actually highly regarded for being a policy wonk. He know every issue and the can discuss viewpoints from any side. Doug is ever present at community events throughout Denver. He is perceived by some to lack charisma but he is thoughtful and engaged. He has served in the State Legislature and already has won a city-wide election.
James Mejia is also ranked highly by most. He has great City of Denver experience and is thoughtful and intelligent.
Michael Handcock is handsome and will likely win NE Denver but many folk in NE Denver feel Michael hasn’t done a whole lot in or for his own District. He is handsome and well spoken. It would be nice to see an AfricanAmerican Denver Mayor. Hancock is viewed by some to be exclusively cozy with often conservative Baptist Ministers.
Carol Boigon is not seen as much of a doer or go getter or potentially effective Executive. Susan Rogers will take more of the “I only vote for women” vote.
I’m suprised at all the negatives I hear from Denverites when I bring up Chris Romer.
Widhy washy on several Statewide issues they say.
like City Council at large or any of the council seats that open.?

A major fund raising campaign is in full swing among parties that were negatively impacted by Chris Romer’s anti- medical marijuana legislation. Romer’s senate bill will come back to bite him in the a** in his qwest for mayor.
Linda Alvarado is considering it.
Why is there mention of the mayoral canidate Danny Lopez? i would like to believe he has better odds then 50 to 1 in winning this election. Be it that he was the only alternative to Hickenlooper in the last mayoral election. He has my vote man!! double thumbs up.
LOPEZ FOR MAYOR
