As NBC News’ Megan Lebowitz reports, House Democrats just dripped a large Nixonian drip in the continuing saga of deceased billionaire pedophile Jeff Epstein, with the House about to reach critical mass in support of the discharge petition to force a vote on the release of the potentially explosive full files from the investigation:
Jeffrey Epstein referenced President Donald Trump in emails to his associate Ghislaine Maxwell and a journalist, claiming in one that Trump “knew about the girls,” according to emails released by House Democrats.
Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released three email chains, sent between 2011 and 2019, saying the documents came from the late convicted sex offender’s estate as part of the committee’s investigation into the Epstein case.
This latest bit of disclosed communications from Epstein before his death in August of 2019 could be interpret two ways depending on the benefit of the doubt you’re willing to give Donald Trump. Epstein says Trump “knew about the girls,” but in a way that might suggest Trump disapproved. But disapproval, as they say in pharma speak, is strongly contraindicated by the birthday card from Trump to Epstein whose existence was proven earlier this year.
And then there’s this:
In another email released by Democrats that Epstein allegedly sent to Maxwell in 2011, Epstein says Trump “spent hours” with someone the committee says was a victim. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence in connection with Epstein’s crimes.
“I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump.. [Victim] spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned. Police chief. etc. im 75 % there,” the email said…
Over a month ago, the federal government shutdown put the Epstein files controversy on the back burner, and the allegation that this was a benefit to Republicans with its own value lurked in the background of negotiations to reopen. Now that Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva is being officially sworn in this afternoon to provide the last necessary support for the Epstein files discharge petition, the story is once again center stage, and Jeff Crank’s protestations that owning the libs is more important are less persuasive than ever. Assuming Lauren Boebert doesn’t have a sudden politically convenient change of heart, the discharge petition can pass the House now without Crank’s help.
And then…well, we can’t say for sure what happens next. It’s impossible to say what accountability looks like for Donald Trump anymore, or whether it still exists at all.
But the story, and the revelations, keep piling up.
