On this day in 2004, ColoradoPols.com published its first post.
Somewhere in the neighborhood of 40,000 posts later, we looked up and realized that we were no longer teenagers.
Colorado Pols is so old that we almost forgot to celebrate our own birthday!
Thank you to everyone who has followed along and will continue to check in on this humble website. If you keep reading, we’ll keep writing.
Here’s a sample of what things looked like 20 years ago:

Really, the diary about consultants basically still holds true in 2024. Happy birthday, Pols!
I was just going to say that! I’ve been searching for that article for the past 30 minutes and can’t find it. Seems to have been very prescient.
Found it!

Congratulations guys. Can't tell you how many times over the years that I've read your posts and enjoyed the writing and comments.
Probably one of my favorite conservatives was Laughing Boy. He/she/it had a sharp intellect and sense of humor. The ones that after were just petulant children with imagined linguistic skills.
Michael is probably my favorite progressive fighting the good fight in south eastern Colorado.
Keep up the good work guys. There is still plenty to write about. If you in end up in a Trump gulag, know that your efforts weren't in vain. The truth shone through in many an article.
Thanks GG. I never knew that, as a registered Republican, I was a "petulant child with imagined linguistic skills."
Must be doing something right as I had to create a new account for Yahoo a few days ago. Seems some MAGA probably got tired of me and reported, which led to everything I posted with my old account being rejected, regardless of content, as a "violation of community standards."
Way back when. Pols and Square State, head to head for the Progressives of Colorado. It has been quite a ride since then. I think the greatest news that covers the years is how Dems turned a redish/purple state to a solid Blue. The population move from California to Colorado helped, it also had the repubs going so far right the rear end of a horse was to the left of them.
Happy Birthday Pols
Did Pols briefly lose rights to its domain name ?
Over Dec 24 -25, it wasnt possible to log on. Anyone else have that issue?
Not only could I not log on, but a bunch of weird shit popped up on my monitor. I took it as a sign to focus on family and food instead of politics.
Yep. Me too.
Yep, First it asked me to click the box to prove I wasn't a robot, then I saw it was proceeding to direct me to some other URL. I bailed out before it could finish. I assumed they got hacked, and I didn't want to inadvertently snag a virus or worse.
I was relieved to see the site was working normally this morning.
Don't know what was happening, but I got a weird notice on Firefox:
and something entirely different on Chrome:
I figured someone, jealous of ColoradoPols reaching its anniversary, decided to hack in.
I couldn’t get in, either. I wondered if the site had been hijacked. Alva, what did happen? I’m glad to see that everything’s okay now.
What! You couldn’t log into the echo chamber. How liberating that must have felt. A day without group think….. priceless.
Did I just hear a warthog fart?
Confucius say, "Only the smell lingers when one farts inside an echo chamber, not the sound."
