That's One Way To Fact Check

An unexpectedly tight race for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Nebraska Republican Sen. Deb Fischer is heating up this week, in a more literal sense than usual, as Fischer’s independent challenger Dan Osborn burnt his retort to a Fischer attack ad into the screen of a television with a blowtorch. Politico:

“This is why normal people don’t run for office,” Osborn, an industrial mechanic, says in a new spot out today. “This is why people hate politics.”

He then proceeds to take a blowtorch to the TV, burning the word “LIE” onto the screen.

Osborn says to the camera that he’s been a “registered independent my whole entire life.” And in response to a Fischer spot accusing him of being a Trojan Horse for Vice President Kamala Harris and “her radical liberal agenda,” he says that “I don’t even own a suit.”

Osborn is a fiercely independent candidate who declined the support of Nebraska Democrats in his run against the incumbent Sen. Fischer, and has successfully brought this race within the margin of error in recent polling, forcing Fischer to draw on support from Donald Trump with all of Trump’s attending baggage. It’s become a race worth watching in the final stretch, even with some uncertainty over whom Osborn might caucus with if elected.

Either way, don’t try to get one past Dan Osborn, or his home electronics could pay the price.
