      1. getting elected to or becoming vice chair of anything. One can only imagine what charmers dear ol’ “Mom” has campaigned, contributed to, appeared with and voted for in the past several elections.

          1. You’ll notice my reply wasn’t to you as I’ve promised not to pick fights but since you chose to reply to me maybe you could tell me who your GOP mother voted for in the last three presidentials, what candidates she’s endorsed and contributed to for US House and Senate, etc.

It has nothing to do with being open minded.  My mind is quite clear on the fact that Republican majorities at all levels are responsible for legislation in direct opposition to everything I believe in so it would be ridiculous for me to support any Republican at this time while the party is controlled by fealty to or at least fear of, the most extreme elements of the base.

If your mom has done anything, for instance, to support and promote candidates that are part of the US House majority don’t expect me to congratulate her. If she supported Romney/Ryan (I don’t know that she did so I’m asking) don’t expect me to view her in a positive light since I believe that their election would have been a tragedy for my country on the grandest of scales. What does “open minded” have to do with it? Am I supposed to oppose Republican policy but root for your Republican mom?

            1. Because they’re the ones that will bring the party back to sanity. I’m not saying you should agree with them or support them. But I do think all moderate Republicans should be encouraged by any Dem who prefers to have two strong parties both working to improve this country.

  1. It is being reported that a relative of one of the victims of the Aurora Shooters is going to sue the CU doctor who had been treating Holmes.  Since he has not been convicted, I don’t know how this can be done.

However, it is the only way that the public is going to learn about what went on at CU and what laws might need to be changed, to say nothing of what medications, if any, were involved.

    1. Prescribed Isotropic drugs seem to be a big player in many of these mass shootings.

That’s not to down play the role of fire arms. If a kid/adult is on these drugs and they make him/her violent, 20 kids and 6 adults or dozens in a theater aren’t going to die in a mass shooting if the individual doesn’t have access to a semi automatic weapon.

      1. isotropics are immunosuppressants. I disagree about their role as a contributing factor in mass killings though I recognize that some have likely had them prescribed at some point. That could be a good thing. Psychotropic generally though refers to “heavier” drugs such as Thorazine, Mellaril, etc.

Seratonin uptake inhibitors are used to teat depression. See Prozac, etc.

        1. no matter how hard we try, lots of people with mental issues are always going to fall through the cracks and most will never shoot anyone. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try.  we should.  But the answer has to involve making it as hard as possible for anyone to obtain the means of killing 20 or 30 people in seconds. That would cover both those we think may be a threat and those about whom we have no clue because it would cover everyone. Far fewer people would have access to that capacity, though, of course, it wouldn’t be foolproof. Like all threats, the best we can do is mitigate, not eliminate.

As far as bad guys being able to get guns, conventional bad guys aren’t spraying classrooms or theaters or even using this type of weaponry. They’re doing things like eliminating rival drug dealers and committing armed robberies.  Not that we shouldn’t try to lessen that kind of gun violence, too but comparing it to incidents like Aurora and Sandy Hook is apples to oranges.

    1. Nobody will click it, and nobody knows what he’s saying?

On the other hand, his full-length posts aren’t a lot more coherent than “Guns, Moonlighting(stealing) and FUBAR! You want anarchy? What we have is anarchy!”

    1. See this is how you direct people to a link. We can all see what it’s about, who will be presenting views on what subject, and thereby ascertain whether or not we care to go there and check it out.
