Noted by State Bill Colorado:
Political veteran Jared Wright is the second Republican to file paperwork to challenge incumbent Republican Laura Bradford in House District 54.
Wright recently filed to create a candidate committee called the “Committee to Elect Jared Wright.” John “Rusty” Price also entered the race against Bradford.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Wright is a Fruita police officer. He also was a deputy campaign manager at Scott Tipton for Cognress, government affairs liaison at the House and Building Association of Northwest Colorado and staff assistant for former State Rep. Josh Penry.
We had seen the entry of John “Rusty” Price into the GOP primary for (sort of) scandal-plagued Rep. Laura Bradford’s HD-54 seat, but we hadn’t heard anything to suggest that Mr. Price was actually being supported by Republican powerbrokers who could make a primary win in June happen. Ex-Josh Penry aide Jared Wright, on the other hand, has the resume and political connections to put an easy end to Rep. Bradford’s career. He’s the clearest signal we’ve seen since Bradford’s “exoneration” that her image in upper GOP circles is irrevocably shot.
