  1. The Sentinel's Editorial Board has a wonderful perspective on governments trying to do COVID:

Pretty please won’t cut it — state and local health officials must mandate masks in public again

Ours is not a world where the vast majority of people can be counted on to do the right thing, even if their lives and the lives of others depend on it. There is no shortage of solid recommendations from health officials that, if followed by everyone, would already have prevented the current resurgence of the pandemic.

The moment calls for the CDC and Colorado to mandate that anyone who works among others show proof of vaccination — or work at home, alone.

The moment calls for the state to mandate proof of vaccination to enter public stores, venues and facilities, or stay home.

Clearly, there is no political will or appetite for such sensible, life-saving and easily achieved requirements.

At the very least, then, the moment calls for state and local health departments to mandate the use of masks in all public places, especially public schools, where everyone younger than 12 cannot even be vaccinated yet.

    1. Yup. I’m not enthused about masking up again in schools, but I’ll do it to protect my community.

Anti-vaxxers have been around a long time. They fought aganst required immunizations in schools, the military, etc. They did not succeed, and so we have eradicated polio, and WERE making progress on measles, mumps, diptheria and other child-killers.

Let science win. Get all the vaccines fully approved for all ages, and vax everybody up.

  2. Nina Turner, last of the Big Time Jilliots, has lost her bid for a vacant Ohio Congressional seat to a real Democrat, Shontel Brown.

Turner was a top Bernie Sanders backer but unlike Bernie, refused to endorse Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, thereby helping Trump win the White House.

She backed Bernie again in 2020 and later compared voting for Biden over Trump to eating half a bucket of excrement instead of a full bucket of excrement.

Turner raised $4 million for the primary but real Democrats, led by the Democratic Black Caucus, rallied behind Shondra Brown and won Tuesday.

Nananana, nananana, hey hey, Goodbye, Nina.  And Good Riddance.

Bernie, AOC and their like fight honorably for their views but join the anti-Fascist forces in the general election. As a Hillary Democrat, now on loan to Kamala, I’m proud to share the party with them.

As for the diehard Trumpsymps like Turner, well, we’ve saved a bucket of you-know- what at the outhouse.

    Happy eating, Nina.

    1. Yes, last night was great news.

Between Terry McAuliffe's primary win in Virginia, Eric Adams' win in NYC, and now Shontel Brown's win in Ohio, perhaps the extremist fever in the Democratic Party has broken.

  3. Glad that Boebert got briefed on I-70 and managed to not turn it into another opportunity to be an idiot.  However, what the region really needs at this moment is something besides an empty suit as our Congressional rep.

This is a region-wide crisis.  Not just economically.  Not just the cost of I-70 repairs.  Not just the disruptions to the supply chain.  This closure has pushed traffic onto dirt roads and mountain two lane highways and is deeply stressing the system from Steamboat to Meeker to Gunnison to Aspen.

How does Boebet fit in?  The best we can hope for is: silently.

    1. As big as transportation infrastructure is, water is much MUCH bigger. The free market will not help. In fact, most sober analysis says a market driven solution will result in more water for the best funded areas, mostly in the lower basin states. (CA, NV, AZ)

A market driven solution for I70 would be most likely to result in toll roads, and foreign ownership of toll revenue.
