What you can do to stay healthy and fight back this week (April 27)

There are hopeful signs that the hard six weeks we’ve been through are indeed slowing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks in large part to our in-state leadership, with no thanks to Trump and his political allies in Washington. With that said, it’s up to us now to stay safe and help prevent a second wave of infection by continuing to stay home except when absolutely necessary until an effective treatment or prevention strategy is in place.

Elected officials are under difficult and often competing pressures, but you have control over your own health. Despite the change of policy announced at the statewide level, public health officials in the Denver area are keeping stay-at-home orders in place until at least May 8th. We can bounce back economically from this pandemic, but lives lost are not replaceable.

Be part of the solution, not the problem. To the degree which you are able, keep social distancing, stay home, wash your hands, and don’t change the new routines you’ve developed over the last month until it’s safe.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t still make a difference! Here are a few great ways to take action from home for the week of April 27:

ACLU of Colorado: 22-Week Abortion Ban Webinar

Join the ACLU of Colorado on April 28th at 6:30 pm to learn more about the 22-week abortion ban underway in Colorado. You’ll learn why this initiative is an attack on reproductive freedom, how the abortion ban has been impacted by COVID-19 and ways to take action to stop this campaign.

Ms. Bracey Sherman will also explore the ways in which anti-abortion shamers utilize racism and misogyny against black people and other peoples of color who have had an abortion or are seeking an abortion.
