  1. It is time for Bernie to drop out.
It is time for Bernie to enthusiastically endorse Joe.
It is time for Bernie to encourage his Bros to wholeheartedly support Joe.
It is time for Elizabeth to endorse Joe.
It is time for Joe to name his VP running mate (Stacy Abrams).

    1. It is time for Medicare for All

It is time for a Green New Deal.

It is time for the working people to have a champion leading this country.

It is time for the Democratic party to reject "Free Market" capitalism.

It is time for Joe Biden to give Americas' young people, latinos, and the rest of the progessive community a reason to vote for him.

It is time…but none of those will happen now.

        1. Meanwhile, grifters gonna grift. (Hint: there is no hospital)

          FFS

Trump Adviser Paula White Wants Money For Her Fake Coronavirus ‘Hospital’

White, who leads Trump’s Faith and Opportunity Initiative, then asked followers for “seed” money. For those who espouse the so-called prosperity gospel, that typically means giving money in the belief that some form of larger prosperity will then be returned to the giver.

“Maybe you’d like to send a $91 seed, and that’s just putting your faith with Psalm 91,” she said. That psalm refers to being saved from “deadly pestilence” and “plague.”

White also suggested sending $9 or “whatever God tells you to do,” adding: “Don’t forget, now is not the time to abandon your covenant with God. It’s a time that you go deeper. Stand with your pastor.”

  2. Someone is still looking presidental:

Elizabeth Warren just laid out 8 conditions that companies should accept for government bailout money during the coronavirus crisis

"Warren unveiled eight conditions on Monday for companies that accept emergency federal funding during the coronavirus crisis.

Democrats are attacking the proposed $50 billion in federal assistance for airlines as a bailout, given the industry has directed massive profits toward stock buybacks.

"Let me be clear: We're not doing no-strings-attached bailouts that enrich shareholders or pay CEO bonuses. Period," Warren said on Twitter.

Some of Warren's conditions included barring stock buybacks, giving workers a seat on the company's board of directors, and banning executive bonuses."

      1. Mark Cuban says bailed out companies should never be allowed to buy back their stocks ever again

        KEY POINTS

        • Billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban told CNBC that companies that receive federal assistance in response to the coronavirus should be prevented from buying back stock ever again.
        • “Not now. Not a year from now. Not 20 years from now. Not ever,” Cuban said.
        • He also said, “Whatever we do in a bailout, make sure that every worker is compensated and treated equally.”
      1. Agreed.  It will be a woman, just not Lizzie.  I was a Kamala guy but Lizzie was my second pick (and became my first after KH dropped out).

        ABT

        1. Joe will make a purely political calculation. He is pretty certain he owns the African-American vote, so he will go with the female candidate that will help him protect the Oily Boyz, give BigAg whatever they want, and make sure Cignas' profit margin remains fat.

          Biden/ Klobuchar.   Ish…

          1. I'd say those odds are 50/50 at a minimum, in part because they need MI, WI and PA.  Clyburn wants a woman of color and I tend to lean toward what he wants given his role in SC – which puts me back to 50/50 on Klobuchar given the electoral math.

            1. Is Amy's MN seat a lock for a Dem?  That makes me nervous although she makes me root for her whenever she speaks.  That's certainly a very moderate and very white ticket (same questions for Liz).

Stacy is so impressive but there might be concerns about ascension and experience.

Kamala's seat is safe D, strong legal background, so the strategist in me says she is a safe bet.

              1. That's a good point. With the virtually certain loss of Doug Jones in Alabama (who'd make an outstanding Attorney General — lookin' at you, Biden), the Dems are already in a 54-46 hole in the U.S. Senate.

  3. “And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently.

"And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.

"And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed."

    ~Kitty O'Meara

      1. That's pretty cool, Michael. For me, I'm finding that I'm watching little TV except 9 News and a little Rachel Maddow. Never been a big fan of hers, but her reporting and interviews have been spot on.

        1. Likewise. Don’t watch her regularly but she is nailing it right now. Have dived in to a handful of Netflix series that I’ve been wanting to watch and making good use of Zoom.

  4. I know, I know, how we can solve this.  Completely! . . .  We can — let’s — close a border? . . .   How about the Canadian border? . . .  Call it a hunch . . .  I’m a business man.

If our world is really just an elaborate computer simulation, somewhere in the multiverse a room of teenagers are laughing their tremendously stoned asses off right now . . .

“Hahaha. Hey Covfefe, see if you can make that orange thing say your name, again?!”

    1. Terry Pratchett — 'A lie can run round the world before the truth has got its boots on.'

Similar quotation from W. Churchill, focusing on getting pants on.  A similar statement attributed to Mark Twain.  “A lie will go round the world while truth is pulling its boots on.”  C. H. Spurgeon, Gems from Spurgeon (1859).  An earlier version appears in the Portland (Me.) Gazette, Sept. 5, 1820: “Falsehood will fly from Maine to Georgia, while truth is pulling her boots on.”  Still earlier, Jonathan Swift wrote in The Examiner, Nov. 9, 1710: “Falsehood flies, and the truth comes limping after it.”

  5. The Dow has officially erased all gains minted during the Trump presidency

    • The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged below its closing level from President Trump’s inauguration day, effectively wiping out all gains made during his presidency.
    • It fell as far as 19,727.33 around 12:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday as Trump’s coronavirus taskforce delivered an address. That was below the 19,732.40 closing level for the Dow on Jan. 19, 2017.

This is a vote of “No Confidence” in Trump’s ability to manage this situation, much like in the closing months of the GW Bush administration of 2008. If only we could erase the Trump presidency as well.

This will be the third time in 30 years a Democrat will be needed to clean up the mess left by a previous Republican administration.

  6. Bernie will be gone, probably this afternoon.  He's suspended his Facebook ads, there is no donate button on his website, and he is flying back to NH this afternoon.  Let's hope he is strongly supportive of Joe Biden (but, like Trump, he's not known for changing his ways).

    1. If Sanders follows through and determines on his own to back Biden, it would be good.  Some could even see it as magnanimous.

Daily Kos had lots of people writing about the wisdom of a strategy of appealing to a plurality, especially a plurality focused on the young.

One thing that was obvious from his campaign — someone had a set of solid ideas of how to appeal to Nevada and California Hispanics and increase turnout.  I hope those lessons can be shared more broadly.

      1. stoopid Bernie
he's ruining everything by waiting so long
he shouldda learned his lesson in 2016 and never run.

As for demographic turnout – maybe the demos who turned out for him liked his vision. In which case, Joe can only count on the ones who share the ABT mentality. Except they were stoopid a-holes for supporting Bernie int he first place so serves 'em right.

Yeah- someone should learn the lesson in all this somewhere.

  7. So let me get this straight, Kathe from the inter webs: you totally believe now the Russians are perpetuating this pandemic hoax, while simultaneously maintaining your belief they had nothing to do with the 2016 elections?

    OK then.

Russia deploying coronavirus disinformation to sow panic in West, EU document says

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – Russian media have deployed a “significant disinformation campaign” against the West to worsen the impact of the coronavirus, generate panic and sow distrust, according to a European Union document seen by Reuters.

The Kremlin denied the allegations on Wednesday, saying they were unfounded and lacked common sense.
