Well, Andrew Romanoff had some surprising guests at his Birthday party.
Or maybe “Party crasher” is the right term.
Romanoff held his 44th birthday party at his former Senate campaign headquarters in Denver to pay off some of the debt left over from the Primary campaign totaling around $130,000, he asked supporters to donate $44, $144, or $1,044 as presents.
Reports say that Michael Bennet’s wife, Susan Daggett, socialized with the crowd and donated some money while she was there. But the biggest surprise was obviously Ken Buck, who shook Romanoff’s hand, said he respected his leadership, handed him a Tea Party pin, a Buck for Colorado bumper sticker, and an undisclosed amount of money.
Buck’s campaign manager also showed up and gave Romanoff $40.
While Romanoff stayed cool about Buck’s sudden show-up and tried to smooth things over, some of his Pro-life supporters started to heckle Buck on his abortion views and later said they felt intruded upon his arrival.
Romanoff’s deputy campaign manager said that he didn’t invite Buck and would have asked him to not come had he known he was planning to show up.
Reports emerged that were suggesting that Buck crashed the event but it turned out that a relative of Romanoff invited Buck to the party.
According to Buck’s campaign, they picked up 12 volunteers from the event and several people privately told Buck that they were going to support him in the General Election.
Perhaps the ironic part of this amusing story is that this event was the highest attended event of Romanoff’s campaign.
There must be quite a bit of people that want to keep Romanoff’s aspirations for public office alive.
Maybe they’re already suiting him up for knocking down a Senator Buck in ’16.
After the last few polls with Buck and Bennet, I wouldn’t be surprised.
