Dems worry Obama's attacks doing more harm than good.

From the Politico on the Presidents attacks on Fox News:

“It’s a mistake,” said Rep. Jason Altmire, a moderate Democrat from western Pennsylvania. “I think it’s beneath the White House to get into a tit for tat with news organizations.”

And going after the Chamber of Commerce:

“There’s no reason to gratuitously piss off all those companies,” added another Democrat, Rep. Jim Moran of Virginia. “The Chamber isn’t an opponent.”

The Presidents polling numbers have been steadily declining in part because his “attack everyone who won’t agree with me” style of governing turns people off.  Anyone watching this who believes that his constant attacks don’t make him look petty are deceiving themselves.

  1. Obama’s polling numbers steadily declined over the summer.  Since early September, they’ve heald steady or improved a little.  So if you’d like to look at the impact of the so-called “attacks” on Fox News, or their treatment of the business lobby, note that these have been news post-September.

  2. see the Chamber of Commerce as an opponent to progressive change only speaks to his personal loyalties. And that he doesn’t live in Grand Junction.

I am one of those Dems that supports the presidents staff and their approach to those who mislead the American people. My memory isn’t what it used to be, but I seem to remember something called the “Ohio strategy”, which was an antidote for “swift boating”. Respond right away…don’t let them get away with lies…be relentless.

The “Right” seems to have allowed Rovian politics, with its’ skillful manipulation of the media and ambivalence to the truth, to become SOP. The generation of negative press as second generation, “made up news”, is not freedom of the press. It’s fraud, and should be exposed as such.

Turning the tables on Ailes, Murdoch, and all their Orcs is something I support and actually find quite gratifying.

    But, that’s just me.
