Aurora's Danielle Jurinsky Experiences On-Camera Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly

  •
  • by: Colorado Pols
Aurora city councillor Danielle Jurinsky.

We wrote yesterday about the swift politicization of Sunday’s terrorist attack in Boulder that injured a now-reported 12 people by Republicans near and far, rushing to blame the previous administration and Colorado’s Democratic elected leaders for Egyptian national Mohamed Soliman’s presence in the state despite Soliman having apparently followed all the necessary steps to apply for asylum and until March being in possession of a valid work permit.

But while Gabe Evans scored his premeditated points about Colorado’s so-called “sanctuary state” laws that didn’t apply, some other Colorado Republicans reacted a bit more strongly. 9NEWS’ Kyle Clark reported last night on a particularly unhinged tirade from Aurora city councillor and self-described Trump administration influencer Danielle Jurinsky that could live on in infamy long after Sunday’s tragic event is in the rearview mirror:

Shame on Jared Polis, Jenna Griswold, Michael Bennet, Phil Weiser, shame on every single one of you who have made the Democratic Party your religion, shame on you. You’re not Jewish, you’re a Democrat. [Pols emphasis]

Nothing brings me to tears like this, than watching Jews, than watching Jews. But their dedication to a demonic cult, the Democratic Party, which has made crime legal, murder legal, rape legal.

You had better be on your knees praying to God for forgiveness, for your behavior, for your behavior because you’re not just anti-American, you yourselves are anti-Semitic.

Longtime readers will remember in 2022 when then-director of the right-wing Centennial Institute Jeff Hunt decried the lack of “Christian leadership” in Colorado state government, which was widely interpreted as a slight against the state’s Jewish governor, attorney general, and secretary of state. But Aurora’s Danielle Jurinsky has taken the rhetoric to a disturbing new level by suggesting that someone cannot be Jewish and a Democrat, the latter being a “demonic cult”–which could be interpreted as a reference either to QAnon or even the Protocols of the Elders of Zion depending on who you talk to.

Either way, it’s another sign of how far the most basic sense of not just decorum but decency itself across the aisle has eroded in the era of Donald Trump. Again, there is no factual link between any of the outlandish allegations leveled by Jurinsky and the tragic event that precipitated her remarks. This is an upwardly-mobile Republican politician using this terror attack on Jewish people as an excuse to unleash a tirade of dehumanizing smears against Colorado’s highest-ranking Jewish elected officials.

It’s another moment to remember wistfully when such behavior was career-ending even among the most immoderate Republicans. Younger readers are often surprised to learn such a time existed.

But it did. And if we ever want to have civil dialogue like that again, people like Danielle Jurinsky need to pay a political price that deters future offenses.
