We wrote yesterday about the swift politicization of Sunday’s terrorist attack in Boulder that injured a now-reported 12 people by Republicans near and far, rushing to blame the previous administration and Colorado’s Democratic elected leaders for Egyptian national Mohamed Soliman’s presence in the state despite Soliman having apparently followed all the necessary steps to apply for asylum and until March being in possession of a valid work permit.
But while Gabe Evans scored his premeditated points about Colorado’s so-called “sanctuary state” laws that didn’t apply, some other Colorado Republicans reacted a bit more strongly. 9NEWS’ Kyle Clark reported last night on a particularly unhinged tirade from Aurora city councillor and self-described Trump administration influencer Danielle Jurinsky that could live on in infamy long after Sunday’s tragic event is in the rearview mirror:
Leading Colorado Republicans are blaming Democrats for the antisemitic terror attack in Boulder. Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinksy says Gov Jared Polis and other state leaders are not really Jewish and belong to a “demonic cult.” #copolitics pic.twitter.com/uqbfXGSHe3

Shame on Jared Polis, Jenna Griswold, Michael Bennet, Phil Weiser, shame on every single one of you who have made the Democratic Party your religion, shame on you. You’re not Jewish, you’re a Democrat. [Pols emphasis]
Nothing brings me to tears like this, than watching Jews, than watching Jews. But their dedication to a demonic cult, the Democratic Party, which has made crime legal, murder legal, rape legal.
You had better be on your knees praying to God for forgiveness, for your behavior, for your behavior because you’re not just anti-American, you yourselves are anti-Semitic.
Longtime readers will remember in 2022 when then-director of the right-wing Centennial Institute Jeff Hunt decried the lack of “Christian leadership” in Colorado state government, which was widely interpreted as a slight against the state’s Jewish governor, attorney general, and secretary of state. But Aurora’s Danielle Jurinsky has taken the rhetoric to a disturbing new level by suggesting that someone cannot be Jewish and a Democrat, the latter being a “demonic cult”–which could be interpreted as a reference either to QAnon or even the Protocols of the Elders of Zion depending on who you talk to.
Either way, it’s another sign of how far the most basic sense of not just decorum but decency itself across the aisle has eroded in the era of Donald Trump. Again, there is no factual link between any of the outlandish allegations leveled by Jurinsky and the tragic event that precipitated her remarks. This is an upwardly-mobile Republican politician using this terror attack on Jewish people as an excuse to unleash a tirade of dehumanizing smears against Colorado’s highest-ranking Jewish elected officials.
It’s another moment to remember wistfully when such behavior was career-ending even among the most immoderate Republicans. Younger readers are often surprised to learn such a time existed.
But it did. And if we ever want to have civil dialogue like that again, people like Danielle Jurinsky need to pay a political price that deters future offenses.

Wow. Someone should call Rabbi Rick for her.
Oh please, Jurinsky thinks "Rabbi" is plural for rabbit.
So that Y at the end of her name and your comment tells me you are Christian. I mean it out of honest instruction that she could open her heart. She clearly is laboring under a great weight
Careful kiddies, this is what happens when you mix Special K and Addy for breakfast. The old "livin' on reds, vitamin C and cocaine" line is quaint and no longer edgy.
And yet, according to the Aurora Clerk's web page, Jurinsky has about 4x the donations of any other candidate for the at-large seats.
So she's getting rewarded for being a far-right loon? Do we really need more reason why Republicans are becoming more extreme by the day? I do wonder though if those donations are by actual local people and groups or shady organizations and people from out of state. Regardless, the effect is the same: Go as extreme to the right as possible and reap the rewards!
I just have to wonder why this hasn’t gotten more traction, even in local media. Tying somebody’s ethnicty/background to politics is clearly not good and a sign of extreme narrow-mindedness. You often see articles about some progressive getting (rightfully) lambasted when they say something similar but replace Jewish with Black/Latino/LGBT or whatever else and the Democrat with Republican. But I guess in this age, Republicans get awarded instead of punished by both voters and the media for doing stuff like this.
Also, why do people like Jurinsky even have a job? Aurora voters really need to wake up, she’s clearly far to the right compared to your average voter but gets rewarded for it. I can’t imagine a Democratic councilmember in a red town or county being able to get away with this. Plus, why does Jurinsky seem to equate being a Jewish Democrat to being somehow supportive of anti-semitic terrorists? None of the culprits in these terrible attacks had anything to do with the mainstream Party nor is the ideological platform of the Dems indicate any type of support for this stuff if you’re being honest.
This is why people like her shouldn’t represent anybody, I’m left wondering why she seems to act like she lives in a MAGA echo chamber, does she not realize she represents one of the most diverse areas in Colorado? Does she not interact with the left-leaning and centrist voters that had a say in her getting elected in the first place? I know local elections have notoriously low turnout, very high turnout for conservatives and super low turnout for liberals but that can only explain so much before we have to blame the voters for rewarding this type of behavior.
One minor comment – if liberals have super-low turnout for local elections, I do blame them for their inaction and apathy. Casting a ballot is about the least people can do.
