We said when CU Regent Tom Lucero was the first Republican to enter the race for CD-4 that we would believe he was a serious challenger when we saw it.
Well, we’ve seen it now, and we don’t believe it.
Despite getting help from right-wing gasbag Hugh Hewitt for a fundraiser, Lucero reported that he had a whopping $3,641 cash on hand after two quarters of fundraising. In Q2, Lucero raised (we think, because his handwritten FEC report is, well, a little tough to decifer) $14,851, but following the Diggs Brown school of campaigning, he also spent $15,799.
To recap, Lucero spent almost $1,000 more than he raised in Q2, and now has $3,641 cash on hand. He’s doing considerably worse than Brown in fundraising, and ol’ Diggs isn’t even in the freakin’ country.
A new Big Line is on the way soon, which should make CD-4 a little more clear.
