Has Mitt Romney Shown Religious Intolerance

Has Mitt Romney Shown Religious Intolerance? Here is a new rough draft for a TV commercial I will be producing for the Democratic Super PAC AmericanLP. Please send me suggestions and criticisms. “Religious Tolerance” :60 Second TV Ad *** Opening video of Rev Jeremiah Wright “God Damn America!” Voiceover: “Intolerance is ugly in whatever form […]

See How Easy That Was?

The Colorado Independent’s Scot Kersgaard: The Colorado Legislature acted quickly and in bipartisan fashion today to require biweekly campaign finance disclosures in advance of this year’s primary elections in June. In past years, biweekly reporting was required beginning in the July before the primary, with quarterly reporting required before that. Last year, though, the legislature […]

Lamborn says other Congresspeople didn’t show up at SOTU speech, but who?

(Surely Lamborn was not the only such putz? – promoted by Colorado Pols) On KNUS radio this morning, Rep. Doug Lamborn told host Steve Kelley that he wasn’t the only Member of Congress to skip President Barack Obama’s SOTU speech yesterday, implying, perhaps, that he was being singled out unfairly. “The President didn’t know or […]

Annoying introduction to Tea Party radio show makes you expect to hear factual lapses

If you’re in charge of a Tea Party radio show, and the Republican establishment likes to say you don’t understand the way the world works, then you want to go heavy on the fact checking to make sure you’re actual factual, especially in the introduction to your show, which you play over and over and […]

Talk show host says progressives are lying evil doers, so I’ve invited him to coffee

(So you don’t have to! – promoted by Colorado Pols) Read (or listen here) how 560-AM KLZ’s Ken Clark said good bye to his listeners, including me, last night: You know ladies and gentlemen, it’s been a great show. It’s been a lot of fun. It’s been very, very interesting. But I cannot stress enough […]

How Long Will The World Wait For Andrew Romanoff?

UPDATE: FOX 31’s Eli Stokols Monday evening: [D]espite Miklosi’s best efforts to secure support from would-be challengers, Democratic strategists in Washington, after conducting polls in the district a week ago, believe that former statehouse Speaker Andrew Romanoff would give them a better chance to beat Congressman Mike Coffman next November. FOX31 Denver has learned those […]

Talk show host calls Democrat “stupid female dog,” an “ignorant slut,” a “stupid retard” and more

Skip this if you’re one of those people who won’t read blog posts about the latest outrageous comments on right-wing talk radio, because they’re just the latest outrageous comments on right-wing talk radio. But read on if you want a window into what hate looks like, and you want to call it out. You may […]

How Low Is Mitt Romney’s Ceiling?

Last week was not good to Republican Presidential contender Herman Cain, who tried (and failed) to spin his way out of a litany of prior sexual harassment claims. You would think that Cain’s problems, combined with the apparent cratering of Rick Perry weeks earlier, would be a boon for Mitt Romney. Apparently not. From The […]

Conservative radio show parts ways with Tipton

(How many times did we tell you Tipton’s “cut the government in half” pledge was going to come back to haunt him? We’re surprised it took this long – promoted by Colorado Pols) “We had Scott Tipton from our district stand in our studio while he was campaigning, and…he said he would go to Washington […]

Texas family law judge shown allegedly abusing disabled daughter

I am not going to embed this video, as it is EXTREMELY DISTURBING. However, as you may have already seen on Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, or other social media sites, a Texas family law judge appears to be shown in a 2004 video physically abusing his daughter, who is affected by ataxic cerebral palsy (a physical […]

Callers and Guests Badly Needed at “Battle of Talk Show Hosts” event

( – promoted by Colorado Pols) Talk radio is, basically, an entertainment medium, and it was proven Wednesday night on the stage of, appropriately enough, the Comedy Works in conservative Greenwood Village, where Denver’s top talk-show hosts squared off in hyped “battle.” You’d expect to get plenty of meaninglessness from a two-hour event featuring 10 yappers […]

How Slick Is “Teflon Cory’s” Teflon? We May Know Soon

As the Colorado Independent’s Troy Hooper reports: The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee wasted little time linking at least one Colorado congressman to Monday’s damning Bloomberg Markets Magazine report on Koch Industries… “Representative Cory Gardner’s career in Congress is propped up by the most radical interests in the country who profit off business with the Iranian […]

2 Men, 1 Brain – Newest Jeffco School Board candidates show their puppet strings

(Cross posted from JeffcoPols) Today I got my emailed version of the Columbine Courier in which Emile Hallez (I think Emile IS the Columbine Courier, but he does a good job anyway) interviews Jim Powers and Preston Branaugh about why they are running for positions on the Jeffco School Board. Emile should’ve just done one […]

AG Report Shows Payday Reforms Working, Saving Borrowers Millions

(But what effect have payday lending reforms had on blog spam? The people want to know! – promoted by ProgressiveCowgirl) A recent report by the Colorado Attorney General’s Office on payday lending provides strong evidence that reforms enacted by the legislature in 2010 are working. Data for the last five months of the year — […]

How Tipton “Packs” His Meetings?

The AP reports via the Durango Herald: Supporters of a plan to expand the San Juan Wilderness Area say Republican U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton is trying to pack a town-hall meeting in Ridgway with opponents to keep supporters from attending a public meeting to discuss the plan. Republicans are accusing environmentalists who back the plan […]

2 Men, 1 Brain – Newest Jeffco School Board candidates show their puppet strings

Today I got my emailed version of the Columbine Courier in which Emile Hallez (I think Emile IS the Columbine Courier, but he does a good job anyway) interviews Jim Powers and Preston Branaugh about why they are running for positions on the Jeffco School Board.

Emile should’ve just done one interview and saved himself some time! If either one of them had said ANYTHING original, I might take them seriously, but no. They used the exact same talking points, the exact same examples and they have the exact same solutions. Even their websites are almost exactly the same!

Democrats Uncharacteristically Showing Political Strength?

UPDATE: ABC News reports, this didn’t go the way John Boehner planned at all: In a major setback to House Speaker John Boehner, the House of Representatives voted tonight 195-230 to reject a stop-gap measure to fund the federal government through Nov. 18 over disagreements on the level of disaster relief funding in the bill. […]

I’d hide, but Michael Brown plays Bush’s “heck-of-a-job” clip every day on KOA radio show

I don’t think too many people realize it, but Michael Brown is a regular weeknight talk-show host on Denver’s KOA radio. That’s, Michael Brown of “Brownie, you’re doing a heck of a job” fame. And Hurricane Katrina fame. That’s not a little bit of fame. It’s a lot. I mean, he’s easily the most famous […]

Michele Obama is like a main character in Planet of the Apes. Are you howling with laughter yet?

(Stay classy, talk radio – promoted by Colorado Pols) When it comes to being insensitive toward minorities and women and others, sometimes the line between humor and insult is obviously in legitimate dispute, and, in any case, the best course for those offended is to ignore and move on. But there are cases when, clearly, […]

How Do Republicans Think?

One of the people appointed to the “super committee” is Senator John Kyle of Arizona. He agreed to serve. If you recall, this committee was created by the legislature during the manufactured debt crisis. It is charged with finding $1.2 trillion in budget cuts over the next 10 years. If they fail to deliver a […]

Denver’s anti-abortion talk-show host Bob Enyart vs. Mitt Romney

( – promoted by Colorado Pols) Bob Enyart, a local anti-abortion radio-show host, is planning a national campaign aiming to convince GOP primary and caucus voters of this: “When Mitt Romney says he’s a pro-family, pro-life conservative, he is a liar to the base that he needs for the nomination.” “We plan on doing again […]

Gardner and Radio-Show Host Agree: Media Biased…Against Them!

(“Do you need a study to be intellectually honest?” Uh, yes. It’s a lot better than “watch TV” as backup. – promoted by Colorado Pols) In an old column for the Rocky, I asked KOA radio-host Mike Rosen about his oft-repeated opinion that The Denver Post has a “liberal bias on its news page.” Can Rosen cite a study to […]

Tell Us How You Really Feel, Donald Trump

Los Angeles Times: Donald Trump has some interesting advice for the Republican Party. The New York real estate tycoon went on “Fox & Friends” Monday morning and told the hosts that if the GOP wants to ensure that President Obama isn’t reelected, all it has to do is not make any deals with Democrats and […]

Excuse me GOP, but how will you pay for that?

( – promoted by Colorado Pols) These days, Republicans in the Colorado Assembly are facing a question they’re not used to being asked: how will you pay for that? In 2009, state Republicans and Democrats were both saying they wanted to pass legislation to upgrade Colorado’s roads and bridges. The Dems’ plan, the FASTER legislation […]
