Coffman Will Report Serious Coin

Republican congressional candidate Mike Coffman announced today strong fundraising numbers, at the same time that fellow candidates Ted Harvey and Wil Armstrong announced meaningless news.

First, a press release from the campaign of CD-6 candidate Mike Coffman:

Highlands Ranch, CO – Sixth Congressional District candidate Mike Coffman announced today that he will report having raised over $300,000 in contributions this quarter, bringing his overall total to over $750,000 to date.

“The fact that each quarter we have been able to surpass our fundraising total from the previous reporting period is very encouraging. These strong numbers will ensure we have the resources needed to make a strong push in the final six weeks of the campaign”, said Coffman Campaign Manager Dustin Zvonek…

…Coffman for Congress will file a full financial report with the Federal Election Commission on July 15th to include all contributions and expenditures during the second reporting period of 2008.

Coffman’s fundraising should keep him firmly atop the CD-6 leaderboard, and the amount he raised in Q2 alone will likely be more than candidates Ted Harvey and Steve Ward raise in total when all is said and done.

Elsewhere in CD-6, Harvey announced the endorsement of The Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and their Colorado affiliate, the Credit Union Association of Colorado (CUAC). Wil Armstrong added to his list of endorsements by announcing that he has the support of gasbag radio host Dan Caplis. Yay for them.

  1. All four candidates have potential for skeletons; Harvey and Armstrong, the mortgage business; Ward, Glendale. But Coffman is the absentee land lord of the slum called the Sec of State’s office. He’ll be tied to his investment decisions in the Treasurer’s office. (though he’s never made an investment decision in his life.) He rather favors the ladies too (short ones).

    1. So these alleged “potential skeletons” will cause a politically unknown Democratic candidate, who has only been in the state three years, to sweep to victory?  I can’t envision any scenario where that will happen.  I certainly don’t see Democratic and/or liberal donors flocking to their 6th CD candidate’s cause any time soon.

    2. But that isn’t happening anytime soon.

Even if that DID happen, Hank Eng is not able to win that district. He’s got no charisma, no clout, and no ability to politick.

  2. This is just a continuation of the campaign long trend of Coffman leading the way. Yeah Armstrong collected more signatures, and has more “endorsements” (Read: payback to father) but neither of these facts will do a thing to close the gap with Coffman. I just don’t see how Armstrong pulls it out in the final weeks of this campaign

Ps. Is Steve Ward still running, or did he drop out?

  3. I hope he wins.  Because he is a complete disaster at the job the taxpayers are paying him to do at the moment.

I wish him all the luck in the world, because you can’t get rid of someone until you have somewhere else to put him.

Godspeed, Mike.  Then the rest of us can get back to a Secretary of State who is actually worth a shit.

    1. Does anyone have an idea when Coffman will be leaving the SoS? He is practically a show-in for Congress, so I am not sure he needs to focus THAT much attention to his November campaign.

I am suspecting he will not leace until late Nov. or December

        1. He may want to forestall Ritter’s appointee from doing a Doug Bruce by serving less than half of the term so he can run for two full four-year terms in his own right. On the other hand, that may not be necessary. Suthers was named to replace Salazar as AG before the lege convened.  But he took the position that until he was formally confirmed by the Senate…which obviously had to be after it convened in January…he was only acting AG.  Thus, he is eligible for two four year terms in his own right.

But otherwise I side with Haners. Mike is not a rich man, and why should he miss a paycheck by leaving earlier than necessary?

    1. If you truly were a Republican you would realize that Coffman is our only chance to ensure that Colorado has a representative with a voice that will get things done for our party and the people of Colorado. I like Doug Lamborrn’s record but let face it. He wasn’t exactly head of his debate team. With the way Musgrave’s campaign is going there is a chance Colorado will have 5 Democratic Congressman and 1 or 2 United States Senators. It only makes since to send the best leader that embodies our Republican principles and will do the most for our great state.  Coffman is that man. With so much at stake this election cycle us Republicans need to focus on helping candidates that need our help rather than fighting between each other. Coffman is the closest thing we have to a lock; lets focus on bigger matters. Face it, Coffman will be ‘the kwan’ of Republican politics in this state come January.

  4. I get it, Noone Law Firm.

As I see it, Coffman would make an excellent

    Congressman. There’s almost no accountability.

Armstrong is another George Bush, the son of a famous politician. He’s weak, another drugstore cowboy.

Harvey would be Pelosi’s worst nightmare, except that he has lost some weight.

Ward is the most intersting. But his bipolar campaign manager could seriously ruin his life.

  5. That said, I think his gains will come largely at Armstrong’s expense, if only by attracting undecideds or Coffman defectors that Wil needs to catch up with Coffman.

Mike Coffman and Steve Ward are the only two veterans in the race and that’s a definite plus for both, but Steve started so late the odds still favor Coffman.  And, of course, if anybody seriously thinks the Democrats will take this seat in November, I want some of that action.  I’m trying to help my kids pay off their college loans.

  6. I could be wrong. It happened once. Coffman could win despite the strained efforts of the Denver Post. I’m guessing it will be Beauprez’s votes versus Ritter’s in CD6 from 2006. I don’t have those numbers, but I’ll bet your kids’ college that’s the scenario we’ll see in November. I’d rather see Coffman than a Democrat.

And Harvey isn’t the worst nightmare he used to be. I think he bought a wig.

  7. everboby is cornating a career politican who barely won the SOS race 2 years ago and promise to fullfill the terms of one of most important political positions in the State. Now all of a sudden the career politican downsides the responsibility of the position by merely stating that it’s only administrative. This is the same guy who walked away from the current seating US Congressman Tom Tancredo and was not comfortable appearing with Congressman Tancredo and now this same career politican wants Congressman Tancredo’s position. This career politican has been itching for this Congressional race for 4years now. I mean with this type of behavor about the way he approaches the SOS position and Congressman Tancredo is borderline absurdness. And now this career politican wants the citizens of cd-6 to give him a pass to be their next Congressman, simply because of an internal poll data, the downgrading (administrative), responsibilities of the one of the most important position in the State of Colorado, that this career politican wants to give to the Democrats to strengten up the voting machine debacle that this career politican has been indecisive about and currently not facing the challenges of the position this career politican won by the skin of his teeth and promise to fullfill, now it’s like Mr. Wizard of Tutor Tuttle I want to be a Congressman now, Mr. Wizard. the citizens of cd-6 can see right through this smoke screen. Go Armstrong!!!

    1. career Tancredo downgrade Wizard race SOS strengten behavor Tancredo borderline poll (debacle) barely positions give a him by to in career politican current Tancredo smoke terms State cd-6 Tuttle see citizens data. Go Armtrsogn!!!

  8. I advise you to read the article on the Rocky Mountain web site under the opinion section on your boy coffman by natalie meyer-“Speak Out”: Coffman Wrong To Give Post Short Shrift. GO Armstrong!!
