  1. Good morning, Polsters. Safely back at home, at last. I am amazed at the level of childishness displayed by the Colorado Republicans and the Tea party cancer that has consumed them.

This gun nut stuff is particularly alarming…but the thing most folks I encounter out on the road are interested in is the marijuana legalization thing. I predict that snowball has gained so much momentum we will see an explosion of initiatives and legislation nationwide in the next five or six years.

I would have stopped in Denver to visit a couple of folks, but I came in in the middle of the night. Catch you next time, Robin.

I will be home in Junction until Sunday…then off to Indianapolis for another project. I hope to do a radio show on KNOZ and visit my commie friends at the Bagel while I am in town.

    1. Duke, Glad you made it home but sorry you have to leave so soon.   Aside from the fear and mongering at the capitol, I'm sure you and your pinko friends will sort out the upcoming city elections.  Interesting slate, that!

      1.

Good morning, my friend! It is good to be home.

Yeah, I saw some signs as I came into town last night. Do you have a particular take on any of the candidates you would like to share with us?

        1. As one of our mutal friends said to me – "I never thought I'd see the day I would be voting for Bill Pitts".  The GJ Sentinel has done (for them) a surprisingly good job presenting the candidates.  Their endorsements continue to tilt right of center but that's no surprise.  As for the ballot initiatives – our Riverfront friends haven't made their case so I suspect Brady Trucking will prevail.  We can only hope Brady will keep their word and be good a neighbor to Riverfront access and set backs.

              1. Thanks Gertie. Got it from Ralph just as you responded.

I don't think I have to guess where most of the Chambers' choices stand politically…Let me guess…they all oppose Longmont and Ft. Collins on their Fracking bans. They oppose gay marriage, oppose marijuana legalization, and believe we should drill for natural gas on the Monument…am I close?   smiley

    2. I wish I could say I was amazed, but at this point I'm too benumbed by their hate. It's the hard right's defining characteristic, whether it's hatred for women, the poor (and middle class), immigrants, or those under the LGBT banner. The only good thing about it is that it continues to alienate middle of the road voters who used to buy their BS.

  2. Good morning Pols.

I've come to cure the website of personal attacks and nasty name calling by making baseless assertions, belaboring minutiae, and endorsing every possible Ayn Rand endorsed notion of personal liberty and limited government.

I smoke pot, drink alcohol, eat bacon, and if I owned a gun I'd kill 'em all, and let God sort 'em out.

Up with the makers, down with the takers!

  3. At what date next year should I start looking to figure out which Democratic legislative candidates are in close races so I can fund raise for them (excluding the couple that voted against reducing gun violence). I don't want to waste money on candidates that have an easy win, or no chance. But I don't want to wait so late that they can't make best use of the money.

And I figure it will take me 4 – 6 weeks to pry money out of everyone's hands that I can.

            1. I learned a big lesson when I contributed to the education tax group last election. First, make sure they will make good use of the money. Second, make sure they have a prayer. Gotta wait to learn that.

The Christian Holy Bible clearly identifies the scope of government. Paul explains the role of government is to commend goodness and punish evil.  That is all, really quite simple.

Unfortunately modern government, just as the snow plows create more potholes than repair crews fill, government also creates more evil than it punishes. Balance is never achieved.

Read this story about a giant crop insurance scam. Yes the government is punishing some of these people however  it was government program that made this crime possible…

I picked Time so you could not discredit the messenger, Time is liberal left.

    1. Time is "liberal left" only because the center has moved to the right. Historically Time has been status quo with a little conscience. They didn't get on MLK's side until public beatings and midnight lynchings became public. They were late in opposing the Viet Nam war, late in opposing Iraq, etc.

    2. Man oh man, what's with the religious rants from you righties the last couple days. You remind me of the guys hunkered down in the bunker in April '45, saying the stars were promising deliverance from the invaders, getting all mystical, bringing up the fairy tales, the whales swallowing people, folks ascending up from caves, waves parting, on and on.

Nock, PUtad, Fladen, agop, every stone throwin', half the people lovin', god(as long as he's your god) lovin' christ-ee cornserve redleg whack job, here's a tip.

Find a workable ideology. Not some bullshit anti-"govbmint", minority hatin' anti womens' ideology Something that works in a modern society.

Find candidates that aren't from the inquisition.

      Win elections.

And for christ's sake, quit whinng!

            1. I just copy and paste the link from the site I want to link to. Yeah it copies the whole link but at least it's there and you can click on it.  I copy, then bring it here, select paste,  get a paste box, paste it in and hit OK. It appears here.

When I hit source I get that Firefox doesn't allow this pop up and I don't speak any codes.  But my pasting links for dummies method works for me and may for other similarly challenged posters.

    3. The Christian Holy Bible clearly identifies the scope of government. Paul explains the role of government is to commend goodness and punish evil.  That is all, really quite simple.

      Thus Srpake Nockworst.

Of course, that same Bible endorses slavery and genocide.

No wonder you hate Lincoln, he abolished slavery.   But don't you think that when the Israelites killed every man, woman and child in Jerico, and all their animals, they were infringing on private property rights?

By the way, that's not the only genocide condoned in the Bible.

      1. But, to be fair, isn't most of the indiscriminate smiting from the Jewish Bible?  I may be making an assumption here because I don't know much about the Christian one except for the general story of Jesus and that the Christian one is supposed to take precedence over the Jewish one for you guys, most notably when it comes to inconveniences like circumcision and doing without pork or all you can eat shrimp.

        1. Modern Christianity generally follows the Cafeteria Plan…. you just slide your tray along the rails, and you get to pick and choose which parts of the Bible to follow as "God's Law" (hatin' on the hommasexshuls), and which ones to eschew as "appropriate and necessary for the time the Bible was written in, but not anymore" (all the parts they'd rather not discuss or bother following).

          1. Sounds like Reform Judaism, the only difference being Reform Jews don't claim the right to control everyone's behavior nationwide.  But our cafeteria style also includes all you can eat shrimp.  Small world.

  5. Yes the government is punishing some of these people however  it was government program that made this crime possible…

Yeah, that stupid government. They're just like those banks with all their money, just asking to be robbed. And those nice cars – if you didn't own one, nobody would want to steal it.

You're a world class moron, Nock.

  6. Austerity measures don’t work. As a businessman, I invest more in my business, not less, when ties are bad. No other way makes sense unless I want my businesses to die. The best analogy herein is the ancient Greek vomitorium, where individuals went when they needed to disgorge their glutton so they could eat some more. Think bailouts. Ennaresting stuff. h/t Digby

The Watson Institute presents Mark Blyth on Austerity from The Global Conversation on Vimeo.

  7. Most losing candidates are forgotten; however, it's hard to forget Dan Maes, the candidate who equated Denver's Bcyle with  UN plot that threatened everyone's freedoms.

Dan Maes needs to run again–the entertainment value would priceless.
