Fresh off his loss in the race to be the next chairman of the Colorado Republican Party, former Republican candidate for governor and conspiracy theory MSU artist Joe Oltmann is back to doing what he does best: threatening the lives of elected officials.

Unlike federal prosecutors under the direction of Trump’s personal attorney Todd Blanche who somehow obtained a federal criminal indictment over James Comey’s seashells spelling out “8647,” Joe Oltmann is well-versed in the limits of the law with respect to threatening speech. As long as Oltmann is not calling for Rep. Diana DeGette to be hung at a specific place and time, or a statement meeting other specific criteria to amount to a “true threat,” he gets to do this without a knock on the door from law enforcement. Oltmann’s regular pushing of the boundaries of threatening speech without consequence makes a cruel joke of the prosecution of Comey, and underscores the retaliatory motive behind that case.
This time, Oltmann at least put the pretense of a court process ahead of the call to hang people. He often doesn’t.
And as we know, in full view of Oltmann’s history from death threats against the “Satan Jews” running the state to personally fabricating the Dominion Voting Systems conspiracy theory that cost FOX News almost a billion dollars, at least one Republican candidate for governor says there’s a place for Oltmann in his administration–just “not around Jewish people.”
He may have lost the race to be the next party chairman, but Joe Oltmann still has his fan club among Colorado Republicans.
This is the red meat he feeds them.
