Jessica Killin has taken another big step toward becoming the first Democrat to win in CO-05 in the 50+ year history of the district.
Killin has outraised incumbent Republican Rep. Jeff Crank in every fundraising quarter since she joined the race last summer. As Killin’s campaign notes in a press release, she has done the work to earn a spot on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s “Red to Blue” list:
Today, fourth-generation Coloradan and Army Veteran Jessica Killin announced that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee added her to its Red to Blue program, making Killin’s campaign to flip CO-05 one of the top targets in the country. This highly competitive and battle-tested designation indicates that the DCCC is significantly invested in the district and will provide Killin with the support she needs to flip this seat.
“Jessica Killin is a dedicated public servant with a proven track record of delivering for families. While Jeff Crank caters to extremists, guts health care, and undermines our servicemembers and veterans, Killin is proving to Coloradans that she is the independent leader they deserve in Washington. Killin has never forgotten where she comes from, and she will win this seat,” said DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene.
Killin is one of only 20 Democratic candidates nationwide to earn “Red to Blue” status, reflecting both the strength of her campaign and the utter uselessness of Crank. The freshman Republican has done basically nothing in his first term in Congress, tying his horse to President Trump at every step. In December, Crank laughably boasted that his main accomplishment was casting more than 300 votes, which is the equivalent of telling your boss that you should get a raise simply because you showed up to work every day.
With Trump’s approval ratings hitting a new low seemingly every week, and Crank doing nothing of interest on his own, its not a stretch to say that Democrats have never had a better shot in CO-05 than they do in 2026.
