Tyler Boebert Is Becoming A Real Problem For Grandma

As 9NEWS reported yesterday, and we’ll explain the deliberative process behind our decision to note for our records:

Republican U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert’s young grandson wandered out of her house for the second time in seven months over the weekend. Her adult son is now facing a second child abuse charge as a result.

Boebert, who represents Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, told 9NEWS there’s “no excuse” and that she’s “very frustrated this happened.”

Boebert’s 2-year-old grandson often accompanies her in Washington and around her district. Boebert said she was at an event in the district and her 20-year-old son was watching the boy at her home on Sunday when the toddler got out of the house, which is near a lake in Windsor.

“A kind woman quickly and safely secured him, and authorities were called as a precaution,” Boebert said.

Rep. Lauren Boebert’s troubled family life has been a storyline that we’ve been somewhat more reticent to jump on than others, despite the everpresent lure of lots of traffic every time we commit her name to posterity. In the case of Boebert’s son Tyler, who made headlines for a petty crime spree in Rifle followed by an incident last year where his young child also wandered away from Rep. Boebert’s home, the contrast between the “family values” Boebert preaches without practicing and the real-world results has become too glaring to overlook. Boebert famously bragged about how her family’s habit of having children very young was “hereditary,” and made polite avoidance of the subject even harder by regularly bringing her infant grandchild with her to Congress–where the childcare was sometimes, as they say, a bit dodgy.

This being the second charge against Tyler Boebert of neglecting his child, it’s not unreasonable for the concerned public to ask if it’s in the child’s best interest to remain in the home. Because this is the home of a sitting member of Congress, especially one who has publicly taken on so much responsibility for her grandson, this situation does very much reflect negatively on Rep. Boebert personally. What kind of guarantees has Boebert already given child protective services about her home’s safety after the first case of neglect? If Boebert has taken on some parenting responsibilities for her grandchild…well, those are responsibilities. And you won’t get sympathy arguing how busy you are throwing fundraisers on tour with Kid Rock.

At the very least, it might finally be time for Boebert to stop telling audiences how babies having babies is the greatest thing ever and that’s why women don’t need reproductive rights.

When reality betrays your preaching this fully, it’s fair political game.
