It has been a tough couple of weeks for State Rep. Scott “There is No” Bottoms, the Colorado Springs Republican who insists that he is the “frontrunner” in the 2026 race for Governor (he is not).
As we first reported last Monday, Bottoms made a desperate attempt to generate some attention for his flailing gubernatorial campaign by claiming — in several different public forums — that he had uncovered “pedophilia rings” in the State House, State Senate, and the office of the Governor. Of course, Bottoms has no evidence whatsoever to support these outrageous claims, which is how he ended up stumbling and bumbling his way through questions from 9News anchor/reporter Kyle Clark later in the week.
This morning, Bottoms held a “press conference” on the West Steps of the State Capitol to discuss his legislation to ban gender-affirming care for minors and to restate his silly pedophilia conspiracy theories. Jesse Paul of The Colorado Sun stopped by the Bottoms presser, which was nice of him. We can’t even joke that “dozens” of people showed up for the press conference; from the video provided by Paul, there were all of three people in attendance.
Paul reports that Bottoms did not take questions following his remarks, perhaps because there was nobody there to ask anything.
It may be time for us to rethink our nickname for this particular nitwit. Scott “Rock” Bottoms is more accurate.
